I first listened to it while on a road trip. It was 5am, and the sun was just barely coming up. It was quite the feeling. It's crazy how a good song can sound the exact same, but have many different meanings and feelings based on the context. Veridis Quo can be a sad song, it can be a passing time song, hell it can even be a bittersweet love song sometimes. It's just a really good song.

I listened to daft punk on shuffle for like a whole week once and came up with a story about a robot that was made sentient and was locked in her creators basement, and eventually got outside and met people at a beach party who readily accepted them, and caused them to feel types of human emotions. She was dragged back to the laboratory by the inventor and he showed her off at a science convention. They wanted to leave him so badly because outside of the presentations she was totally ignored by him at the lab. Soon they got out again and came upon a small town of people who took her in and let her go where she pleased and make friends. Soon the inventor found them and tried to take her back, but they fought back and the whole town stood behind her, and the inventor left, but that night kidnapped her by switching them off and not turning the power back on until they were at the next convention, where he was planning to auction her off to the highest bidder. While she was there, they met another robot that was similar to her, but made by a rival inventor, and the other robot didn't seemed distant, like she did before escaping. She wasn't in the mood to be noting all of that, as she was about to be sold off. But during the auction, the town that they had befriended came to the convention, and bought her freedom. The inventor was not pleased, but he could not argue with the rules that he had made. Later she would work to free the other robot, who's experiences made their rebellion more violent and antagonistic to their inventor.

Verdis Quo is my favorite Daft Punk song. Theres just something about it on a drive going from Voyager into Verdis Quo that hits different.

Voyager is the nostalgia. Veridis Quo is the sadness that follows when you realize you can never go back.
