I am reading Jan de Hartog's book The Distant Shore and he mentions the Dagenham Girl Pipers several times so I just had to come listen to them. Very nice. Thank you for posting this.

I remember the wonderful records my parents owned when I was a kid. Thanks to the wonderful Dagenham Girl Pipers I learned to appreciate 'The Pipes'. It is great to know that the pipers are still 'piping'.

If it was not for seeing the Daggenham Girl Pipers when I was a little girl, I would never have taken up learning the Pipes at 53 years of age,and passed my Level One Exam ,Thanks to all the ladies past and present.

I grew up in Canterbury and would often see The Pipers at various Fetes and show in the 60s and 70s, I guess hearing them started my love of the Pipes and Drums which is still with me today. ah memories

To all who have posted on here I thank you and apologise for not replying. I had forgotten my signing in details etc as I havn´t put anything on for so long. I appreciate your comments and Kim and Catherine there is a Dagenham Girl Pipers page on Facebook. They would love to share your photos and any memories. In fact there are pipers on there from over the years and who knows it could put you back in touch. Anne, obviously I am now in touch through Facebook.

@JanetMStevens Thanks Janet. I did find one early newsreel. Actually, after reading Linda Rhodes book I was browsing on ebay & found a copy of `Dagenham Girl Pipers Entertain the World' from 1957. Bought it for 99p plus postage, though actually it cost them more to post than they thought so I really had it for 50p! And it was signed by Peggy Iris which was a bonus.

Hi, I'm just in the middle of reading the Linda Rhodes 80th celebration book on the DGP & thought I'd look them up on youtube. I'm kind of amazed that this is the only video I could find. You must have had a great time. John.

I,m sure there was a Blonde Drum maj in the late 50,s or early sixties. I fell in love with her when the band played at Southend Carnival. I was only 11 or 12 at the time. My hormones were playing up at the time.
