I don’t think that the actual Steven Hicks was this way and would probably have not used slurs as his parents and acquaintances state that he was a rebel teen but was still sweet natured and even couldn’t stand hunting because it would hurt animals. I am pretty sure he just politely declined and explained that he didn’t feel that way, but unfortunately Dahmer probably took it the wrong way or was too far gone in the abandonment issues and other problems that the first killing happened. This killing is different from others mostly because it was in the heat of the moment and was unintentional from the start.

Here’s my analysis of Steven Hicks (yes I know there are very few photos of him, and it’s unknown whether those photos are what he looked like at the time), but from what I can see he looks quite thin, and not a “very masculine jock” type of guy. So I don’t see him acting like this depiction. In the photos, I can also see friendliness and good heartedness in his face. His parents (from what I’ve seen in their interview) were very religious and strict (it was said that Steven turned down Jeffrey’s offer of weed), and said that Steven was a trusting and personable individual. It’s sad to think that Steve’s interaction with Jeffrey was probably nice and wholesome the whole visit. Jeffrey never indicated that he made a pass at Steven or that Steven talked down to him for any reason (which fits with Steven being a good natured guy who was straight). And I don’t really see a reason to imagine Steven attempted to leave in a dismissive or rejecting manner: only simply that he had to make it to his destination. 😔
