Over 30 years ago I lived in Hollywood, CA, I got involved with a Buddist group, we chanted Nam Myoho Renge Kyo, we did the entire booklet you showed, I even went to a temple and received my scroll, which I still have. I haven't chanted for years, however I do remember the "high" it used to induce. I never believed in a personal god, so Buddhism was something I could accept more so than Xianity or other religions. I am mostly agnostic today, but this still appeals to me.

thank You Mr Robbie, your video has enlightened me further.I was introduced to this practice 5 years ago had lots of problem keeping up the practice well I will try harder and your explanation was superb. Great Keep it up. Nam myoho rengay kyo. From Singapore.
I have been practicing since last August, Rob, and this is the deal. Everyone I turn to for answers gives me a different one. Oh, and about the Gohonzon, the one is Japan is sacred the rest are made out of paper. Nichiren said:"If you think the mystic law (Nam Myoho Renge Kyo) is outside yourself, then you are following an impure teaching.

My brother joined the war in Cambodia in 1979. Fear of her son life my mom prayed night and day or whenever she could for my brother's peace... There was one night when guarding at his bunker, he suddenly heard her prayer of "Nam myo horen ge kyo" vibrated warmly around him...Then he woke up by a bullet head that bumped to his helmet and span it around. The bullet then bounce down to the ground... His life was protected by my mom's prayer of "Nam myo horenge kyo". The bullet is kept as...

Great video, great information about the law, practice and philosophy. I've been a member of SGI since 2003. I have only experienced good things with this organization and have been treated with love and respect. I've seen my leaders' sincere care for the members and seen the organization do good things in community. I was skeptical a little bit....

Greetings, Robbie! Thank you very much for this intresting video. I would like to say, that I have been chanting Daimoku or Nam Myoho Renge Kyo Aug. of last year. Not on a regular basis but, whenever I feel the need or the urge to do so or whenever the stresses of my family get me down I turn inward and chant. I'm very honored to have found this video since its usefull ideas and suggestions for chanting are a welcome help. Thanks again for this video. Nam Myoho Renge Kyo :)

Hi, Robbie doesn't know because he is not a Nichiren Shoshu Buddhist and SGI no longer teaches its new members about the significance of the Dai-Gohonzon-sama. About 30 from my area will be attending Tozan throughout 2009.

Through dedication and faith you will find actual proof of the workings of the mystic law. Daishonin states that 'the lotus sutra is the most difficult to believe because it is the most difficult to understand.' You will need not only true faith, but support. In the latter day the lotus sutra is the superior sutra. If you need support, look up the SGI (Sokka Gakkai International) for ways to get in touch with others who practice in close proximity with you.

Those who chant talk about having experienced miracles, no one talks about those members who experience misfortune or lose their lives because of illness/tragedy. Don’t blame the practice, but don't credit it too. Chanting 4-5 words over and over did NOT help man in any of his inventions and his progress. It WON’T stop terrorism, save the planet, recover the economy. Take action. Wake up.There is no special key to life. Your destiny is in your own hands.

Those who chant to realize earthly desires have acknowledged the importance to them of these desires. Is this not the beginning of mindfulness? Chanting also seem to filter out evil desires. And the chanting itself seems to cause evil desires to fall away, as the person chanting finds it impossible to remember them while chanting. I feel that Buddhism progresses like science, and now contains quite a bit that the Shakyamuni Buddha did not teach per se, but of which he would have approved.

Robbie, why do so many Buddhists eat meat when compassion is a basic principle of the teaching. I studied it for a while, but was so disollusioned by the willingness of many buddhists to turn a blind eye to the cruelty involved in factory farming.
@rawbuddhist open your eyes.. how many years did you spend to study SGI Buddhism.. Your mind has been poisoned by those priest.. SGI excommunicated because of jealousy and greediness.. study more about SGI.. does NICHIREN SHOSHU says all the thuth about SGI?.. how many years do you practice buddhism?.. come on.. if you will ask me how many years i have been practicing and studying buddhism then my answer is "i been born as a buddhist and will die as a buddhist.

I've been in the habit of chanting Diamoku. But with a tad veriation. I've been chanting each word extremely slow in order ten times a night. And I've added Om and kyu at the end. I find that it helps me sleep. It has pretty much cured my horrible insomnia that I've been suffering from for many, many years now. I'm still whet behind the ears. Tell me what you think of my veriation to the chant please. Thank you for putting this video up :)

@Jackthemeat You cannot chant it in English because English is a material language. It is good for business and administration. But its not good for philosophy or spirituality. It won't give you the same effect as chanting in Sanskrit. Sanskrit is a spiritual language. It'll give you a different effect. Japanese is a sweet language. It's more feminine in nature. So, the effect produced is pleasant.

Robbie, You've made a great cause for your life in making this video. Well done! I love your observation about holding the beads between your palms being a symbol of taking your life into your own hands. That's one of the greatest aspects of our practice: We already have the courage, compassion and wisdom to deal with any situation, no matter how fearful or depressed we might feel initially, and all we have to do is activate it by chanting. NMRK! Vittoria

That's some bad-ass information put forth there "Robbie." Kudos. Old as hell in this karmic-nightmare, but don't need a priest and the Blue Lotus in addition to to being slightly hallucinogenic had a piece dispersed in the swamp-waters and Siddharta was awakened in late 2012 by a loving outgrowth of our shared Mother's true love. But I digress.. Disturbed somewhat today. I've been SecondComing for decades and staying our out of fear. So go rub a mountain for an eon or two. If you;re willing. You''re surrounded by a field of Bodhisattvas. It's a pleasure to meet you, youngster. Can you wave your hand yet and create a new planet yet? Put out a candle or the moon? It's getting real. Candles and incense and nonsense and Nichiren? It's a puzzle without a clue. Nam-Meyoho-Renge-Kyo, Awake as any Avatar. Siddhartha and the Lotus Sutra daiamoku saved this killer of time and oceans with the chant, but the rebellion dwells within. Black and end would be a result better than anyone not manifesting. Hope someone reads this tittle.. The Goddamn moon is missing in my world, and no-one I could drag from beneath a roof could find her tonight. Manifest truth. Glad your on the same race-track.
