I met this guy once in 2011 or 2012 in Dali village area. I have a friend who use to teach his kids taekwondo. This guy is very humble and gentle man.

Brian: I am glad that you are out there to show the outside world about Chinese Culture. I would like to visit where you are. I would like to know information to visit in the middle of the current situation. Moreover, I am a Chinese born in SoutheEast Asia with fluency in Mandarin & English -- currently a US citizen. I am also a practitioner of acupuncture & Oriental medicien, second career after being in Information Technology. I had been thinking of going to rural China to help after my Viking Yangtze River cruise in 2014. If you could reply my comment to let me know how I may further communicate with you so that I can start plan on a visit and other plan to visit China soon. Thank you!

Dali used to be a small kingdom. China expanded, absorbed the small kingdoms and areas throughout its long history.

It was originally a province ruled by the central government, and then the Duan family established the country! Duan's family is still Han ~

All China have many kindoms in the history and all merged in to China. This is a civilization! Stop use ur tiny brain to think everythinh should be tiny and small kindom as in your feudalism and primitive triblism as in your country.

The problem with China is its ideology, Communism, which China does not wholly embrace anymore other than just a label, and it scares people away. I do not know why, but probably because the west has been battling Communism for so long relating it to oppression and dictatorship or for whatever reason, and for the fact that not many people read Marx's The Communist Manifesto to have a better understanding, still they fear and hate it. Honestly, If you look at China's past and North Korea, I can hardly blame them. This fact, the people and government of China, do not understand. It is sad, China can run or even fly, but decided to walk.

It’s been my experience that most people in China are pretty content with communism

It is amazing that places like this somehow managed to survive the Cultural Revolution and the rural migrations to the cities. There is something so profoundly beautiful about the buildings where the people are at once on top of each other in public spaces and yet have space in private. It reminds me of visiting Italy in the 80s as a student. I'd walk down a street in Pisa and it felt like living in the Renaissance. I'm not surprised young people find it creative. I will definitely try to visit.
