I love this scene. I wish they hadn’t rushed the Bobby/Pam reunion in Patrick Duffy’s last episode. They should have been reunited a bit sooner, with Bobby waiting until after he dumped Jenna to propose. Bobby could have died shortly after the wedding, and Pam would have been his widow, in residence at Southfork, during the dream season. That would have been a much better set up than Pam as his ex wife. But I’m nit picking. This really is a wonderful scene.

In hindsight, instead of Bobby dying and the next season being a dream, I would have had Bobby just go missing for a season. How about this: On his way back to Southfork, Bobby's car skids off the road and crashes in a field. When the police arrive, Bobby is missing, the rest of next season is spent looking for him along with the other storylines of the dream season, then it caps off with Bobby still ending up in the shower. He would reveal that Katherine kidnapped him and held him hostage in a remote part of Texas before he escaped and made a long journey back to Dallas. How much more sense do you think that would have made instead?
@jaredjlinden
5 жыл бұрын
owenpeterson It would have been better, but they didn’t know at the time that Patrick Duffy would be willing to return. At the time he left, he was adamant that he was never going back and he wanted them to kill off Bobby. That said, they shouldn’t have listened to him. You never kill off a core character in a soap unless you have to. You always leave the door ajar. I would have had Bobby drown on a second honeymoon with Pam. No body.

I saw an idea on a forum I saw years ago. The last scene would have doctors at a hospital bringing a Ewing family member, or members, into a hospital room. They're told "He's starting to wake up." Bobby opens his eyes and sees someone, preferably JR or Pam for dramatic effect, and they say "Welcome back Bobby". Next season starts and it's revealed that Bobby has been a coma since the accident and HE is the one that dreamed the previous season instead of Pam. Is it a little silly? Yep, but it's better than what we got. It's more plausible for Bobby to have dreamed away season 8 while in a coma than for Pam to do so after awakening the morning after reconciling with her ex husband. Never understood why Jock's death was left with an opening for him to return after Jim Davis died in real life, but Bobby's death appeared to be permanent with Duffy alive and well to return at any time. After seeing how quickly Principal left after he returned, Duffy probably should have held on for 2 more seasons and they could have excited the series together.

He says of Victoria Principal "I have never even conversed with her off the set. But on the set we have a great working relationship I think it's because we play such a lousy people" ------------ Being paired with VP (whom Duffy calls "the upstage artist of the world") was difficult at first. "We were in constant state of competition, we were very territorial in front of the camera and it was a strain". Their relationship improved during Dallas'third season when Duffy made his debut as a director "I developed an appreciation for her and I think for the first time she started to trust me"

Every time I see this episode of Dallas cause I actually have season 8 which is where this episode can be seen, in fact it's the last episode of season 8, the cliffhanger for season 8 anyway it just makes me mad, sad that Bobby had to be killed off in such a horrible way and by a lunatic that's already tried to kill him once then tries again and this time succeeds, all because she couldn't have him but why would you want somebody who clearly don't want you it doesn't make any sense at all but then again what human being does make sense but of course this is only a TV show but I wouldn't be surprise if this kind of crap don't go on in real life nothing would surprise me about a lot of people.
