@@TheEwing69 I think I might know why she was so vocal. I read somewhere that she hated to see her and Ray's story line surrounding their unborn child simply thrown away and forgotten about. I have to admit, it was some darn good writing: Donna wanted to keep the baby and Ray didn't because of the Down Syndrome. I'm not sure if any other television show ever tackled that topic before. I think thousands of households would've been able to relate to Donna and Ray's dilemma of preparing for a child with disabilities.

Miss Ellie was in severe denial when Jock died because deep down, she hoped that it wasn’t true and that Jock would return. She went through her own grieving process and eventually came to her senses and accepted Jock’s death and that he was human. It’s not common for people to deal with a loved one’s death like this. the produrs morphed jock into this saint who did,not lie or cheat.....which is a total contradiction to the type of man he was portrayed to early on...tough as nails ol boy that believed only the strongest survived and real power is n not something anyone gives you...real power is something you take...in any case Miss.ellie has not graduated to a mental state where she is ready to deal with losing this man...if donna is a true friend she would not have approached ellie with this until it was clear she had accepted jock's death and get along with her life...
@radrobd

I so agree with you about Jock morphing into a saint after Jim Davis' death. In the early seasons of the series, the origin of the Barnes-Ewing feud was a little murky. Did Jock cheat Digger? Did Digger drunkenly give away his shares? I believe the truth lied somewhere in between. But after Davis died, Jock became a hero and a martyr and Digger was clearly in the wrong. The original ambiguous origin story was better.
