And in real like Steve Kanaly or whatever (is that his name?) and Patrick Duffy aren't going to fight their way out of many bars. Jock is another deal. I can buy that he's a tough guy. But you're right, calling Ray a pipsqueak was a little inaccurate. He might look small but that's just cuz everyone around him is so big.

Jim Davis filmed so many fight scenes in his long career - a lot of them from Stories Of The Century. I would not be surprised if the producers went out of their way to do this segment as a tribute to those many fight scenes. Jock Ewing - what a fucking badass. Of course it didn't hurt to have Bobby and Ray around.

This really happened, they were on break from filming on location and that guy was the town bully, Jock had an affair with his wife before and the guy wanted revenge. They put it in the script and thus the legend of the Ewings was born.

Jock was probably the only person J.R. acted scared of. He never cheated on Ellie, that I know of. Jim Davis was good in westerns, he was in several western movies and shows, including Gunsmoke. He reminded me of Lee Marvin.

Tucker would have been good. So would Lee Marvin, though he was also in poor health by the early '80s. I think in the end they killed off the Jock character mainly because the cast didn't want Jim Davis replaced.
