It was such a shame Jim Davis died so early in the run. The guy just had PRESENCE. Clayton was a nice character but he would never handle the boys like this, even if he was called in to play Jock he just didn't have it. How he owns both boys here is amazing.

+AZDuffman Wow, you are so right! I still loved the show even in it's later years, but in re-watching the early seasons recently, I noticed the same thing you just said here. Jim Davis had a real presence and when he was in a scene, he demanded your respect and attention. Clayton, albeit a good addition to the show, just didn't have that same presence.

JR was a real villain and a power to be reckoned with but the show needed one person to reign him in and that was His Daddy. JR would never turn on his Father or even his Mother. During the course of the show, there were only three people JR would never intentionally hurt and that was his parents and his son John Ross. JR's saving grace was the love he had for his family even though it was misguided at times. He would say throughout the series that everything he did was for his Daddy and his Son. Dynasty's characters could never capture the qualities of the Ewing family of Dallas.

The funniest thing about this scene besides JR's savagery, which will never not be amusing, was Jock's side eye at 01:31, and that frustrated grunt/growl noise he makes after he breaks up the fight between JR and Bobby. The sounds of a parent who has had enough of their kids for the night.

The funny thing is when you read about all the fun the cast used to have on the set; because Hagman and Duffy were the BIGGEST practical jokers. I'll bet they used to crack up blocking these fight scenes. But they were all good actors because you never would believe how friendly they were in real life. They all seem to have stories about just hanging out and getting together with each others families.
