The market is bigger in Dallas, Austin, and San Antonio, he would be able to make significantly more money there by charging more for seats and suits, and he wouldn't have to pay nearly as much in taxes. It would be a very boneheaded thing for Clark to do. And he knows his reputation, and more importantly for him...his bank account, would suffer forever. Come on, man, it's nearly a century old, cut the old gal some slack. FYI it's getting new renovations done soon. Besides, the Cotton Bowl would be temporary until a new stadium was built. But this is all moot because it's never gonna happen.

Salt Lake City is the only option I see here. Sac is too small and too close to the Bay Area (not too mention California political BS). I could see Portland being an option 10 or so years ago but for now they have a big blue mess they need to clean up. But Salt Lake City? Oh yes, I can definitely see that.

Dallas is big enough for two teams. However, Austin and San Antonio would be a better fit for football than two teams in Dallas. Dallas has SMU, Fort Worth have TCU, Denton has North Texas, Arlington has the Cowboys and the Renegades. I think DFW is good with teams. Not to mention all the high school teams like DeSoto, South Oak Cliff, Southlake, Carter, Allen, Denton Ryan, etc.

Just move both teams to Oklahoma City. All youd have to do is add an O to the logos. OKC
@jaylucien669
4 ай бұрын
You're not wrong. OKC has actually been large enough to host an NFL team for some time now. Oklahoma City is a lot bigger and more metropolitan than a lot of folks realize.. But, where's the stadium? Norman? HA! OU would never in a million years sign off on that even with it being temporary. I bring OU up because their powerful alums and boosters are likely the main reason why OKC hasn't ever been seriously considered for an NFL franchise. That crimson & cream pride (and blood) runs deep. An NFL team could very well hurt the Oklahoma football program and it's brand.

@jaylucien669 They could do like the Vikings did when they were getting their new stadium built. They played at University of Minnesota until construction was finished.

@@barrymccockiner5280 That's what I'm saying, man. There's NO WAY the University of Oklahoma signs off on that. The Sooners prefer being the only show in Oklahoma, and honestly I don't blame them. The people of the state of Oklahoma and the University all seem to be good with that status quo, and that's understandable with the mega success that program's enjoyed over the years.

@jaylucien669 Mega corporations like the NFL and billionaire owners can be persuasive when met with resistance. Do you think OU would turn down a donation of say 150 million for stadium and campus upgrades would get their attention and let their new neighbors use the grass for a few years?

Two teams in Dallas would be cool plus I'd like to see the city of Dallas actually get a new stadium instead of playing in the suburbs where the Cowboys play in Arlington currently. The Chiefs are on borrowed they need to explore the Kansas side if they're going to have any hopes of keeping the team. Renovating Arrowhead is a band-aid move, it's not going to help keep the Chiefs there past the 2030s. They need a real new building this time, and it's either downtown Kansas City, Kansas, or moving out of town. The Dallas mayor sounds like wants a team of of his own to rival the Cowboys. Also, Chicago is building a brand new palace on the lakefront that can house two different teams as well like in NY and LA. Toronto should always be in play as well as the NFL has to move to Canada to test the international waters before moving to London.

He was being facetious. The Chiefs aren't going to return to Dallas and become the Texans or any other name. I think the DFW Metroplex could probably support two NFL teams, but Jerry Jones won't allow it. The Chiefs, if they move at all, will move to Kansas City, KS and remain the KC Chiefs.

Too be fair that was 1963 and things have changed quite a bit since then. Now, do I think there's a chance of this happening? Nah. But as a lifelong Dallas resident I'd like another team here. It be fun to pull for a team not owned and ran by Jerry Jones and his family. But, by the very slim chance another team does come here, it won't be the Chiefs.

All stadium deals should be as follows: Ownership purchases land at market value. Ownership finances 100% of the stadium cost. Ownership pays taxes. Since I'm fair, tax increment financing can be used for necessary public infrastructure such as expanding roads and mass transit. Otherwise if ownership wants to sell equity in the team to the city in exchange for financing the stadium itself, they can do so.

Pieces of metal mean nothing. Pro sports is a BUSINESS at the end of the day. Packers nearly moved to Milwaukee in the 90s and would have had they not won in the 90s. American football and NFL is the most greedy most corrupt sports league. Fan loyalty, history, and even pieces of metal they give to the owners mean nothing. It's all about the money.
