Back then, the population in US are basically pure blacks and pure white people. The intense immigration of people from other countries to the United States messed up the ethnic groups and consequently with the appearance of people.

I've seen the movie too many times now to be objective about it, as well as all of the imitations and sequels may have lessened the impact for me, but to have seen it with fresh eyes back in 1974 and seeing how terrified some of these people were, it must have been quite the experience back then and I do think that this movie was way ahead of it's time.

i dont know why yall keep treating plastic surgery as if its brand new lmao it's been around since 3000 BCE, has been done by real surgeons since the early 1800s, the first nose job in the US was done in 20s, face lift in the 30s, boob jobs in early 1900s, and started becoming common around the 70s. yall just love hating women for anything and everything
