I ordered my DC80 from watchmann with no external AR. I’ve beaten the crap out of it on backcountry trips and it still looks new. Great watches.

They're excellent. I'm so impressed with how well the steel holds up. Mine still looks mint after lots of use too. Thanks.

I can't tell you how many times my index finger hovered over the mouse click and corresponding "buy" button for a Damasko DA43. You're review is not helping me resist that urge, lol! They do pack a lot of technology in their products. Funny how watch enthusiasts seem to never complain about the 3 o'clock position for the logo, yet when Christopher Ward puts one at 9 o'clock -- out come the pitchforks and torches. Oh well.

Not to nudge you further toward pulling the trigger but I think these are right up your alley. I just love that you can really wear them and the steel holds up so well. Not to mention the internal tech aspect. I've yet to own a Christopher Ward and maybe that's partly why but the 9 o'clock logo never bothered me. Thanks Lee.

Fantastic review Bob. I love the idea of seeing a watch that has been used for a while. AR coating on the outside of the crystal results in brilliant clarity but it does scratch easily. My PO crystal is scratched too. Thank you for another excellent video :)

Damesko’s are very impressive watches. I recently got a DSub 1, it’s a diver made from submarine steel. Very nicely done. Gnoman also sells Damasko, the DSub 1 is actually a Gnoman exclusive.

The DSub1 is such an awesome watch from Damasko! Damasko is one of my favorite brands. The one I've been eyeing is the DC80 lately. Thanks and enjoy that beauty of yours!

My DS30 is made from submarine steel too BTW. It's held up really good too. Not a mark on the case and I wear it all the time.

I prefer ar on the underside only. The whole purpose of sapphire is to have a scratch free crystal for the life of the watch. I'd rather deal with a little bit of glare myself.

Got my DA46 at the time when Brexit was announced. Bought it from Page and Cooper at very good exchange rate right at the lowest point for GBP - just couldn't miss the opportunity. Since that time it has been with me through everything - aerobatic flights on small planes, doing many outdoor activities around New Zealand (Tongariro Crossing two times, Mt Taranaki walks etc.) and of course the tough day-to-days at the office. I can tell you one thing though - if you are to get it, then get it without the top anti-reflective coating. Top coating will get scratched, unless you baby the watch (then, there is no real point in getting Damasko imho). To me the difference in appearance and readability is insignificant, but having scratches on the crystal won't make you happy. Overall watch scored amazingly well for "elabore" movement - case and watch in general are as new. Right now it loses circa 1 minute per week though, which is ok taken in consideration the amount of beating it has been subjected to...

That's awesome. Sounds like it's been through thick and thin! It's funny you mention the top coating of ar. I have a DS30 and ended up with a nasty scratch to the coating. I was nervous to try it but I was able to remove the coating with a little Polywatch and a polishing wheel on my dremel. Otherwise the case is still mint considering the knocks it's taken. The one I've been eyeing lately is the DC80. Hope to pick one up someday. Thanks for the comment :)

Another great, concise review, Bob. I’m going to get a Damasko one day, probably the Da44. I can’t live without some kind of rotating bezel.

I bought my first Damasko in 2014 (a DC66Si) and looking at it in 2020, it still looks like new - not a single scratch or dent on either the bezel or the case. Compared to some of the 316L cased stainless steel watches that I own, this is quite amazing. My other Damaskos bought at a later stage seem to offer the same type of scratch resistance. I haven't owned a damest coated Damasko so far, but it will be interesting to see how my customized damest coated DC86 will look after 5 years of wearing (watch is due to arrive in July). All in all, I love the fact that with these watches, I don't have to worry about magnetism or getting a scratched up watchcase.

I'm totally a believer on their cases too. I have a DS30 and have seen a few Damaskos in person and they're always in pretty well mint condition. It's definitely a brand that can handle it all. The DC86 is such a cool watch. Love the central seconds counter for the chronograph. Thanks Leif.

@TimeToGo Travel And Timepieces: I really love the DS30 from a visual standpoint, however it's unfortunately way too small for my liking. A DS30 in 42mm would be an instant buy for me...

Boy that really shows how bad AR on the outside gets. How easy is it to take it off once it gets scratched up? As far as no scratches on the case, doesn't much matter if the PVD is wearing off all the edges, I'd avoid PVD too.
