At this point I believe that we need to wait longer to make more clear on what really happen cause none of information from the people who was involve is reliable. Blade is Insane, Jingliu is insane, have bad memory, also bias. Dan Feng being force to become Dan Heng with only bit and piece of unrelated memory. Jing Yuan only get involve with the aftermath so he probably don't have much information as well. Any other source of information is just straight up false in my opinion. Even if Jingliu have a clearer memory I think that she herself would not have the right information as she have arrive after Dan Feng and YingXing's action. I think the best bet we have here is for Dan Heng to retain all of Dan Feng's memory, since Dan Feng whether guilty or not is basically at the very centre of the incident.

There are a couple of things that don't even make, Jingliu implies Dan Heng and Yingxing tried to resurrect Baiheng but her lore has Dan Feng say he tried to create a new high elder, so which is the truth, this then gets muddied even further by the implication in his companion quest that it was in order to free the Vidyadhara from their cycle of reincarnation. Blade literally had Dan Feng carved into his body so he wouldn't forget about him. Dan Heng literally doesn't know who Blade is or why he's being chased despite meeting multi0le times and Blade constantly trying to remind him, while he can at least recognize Jingliu when he meets her. It takes Dan Heng an entire conversation about his past with Yingxing for him to remember him, nor does he ever link Blade to Yingxing until Jingliu spells it out for him, meanwhile he was able to remember parts of Baiheng just from hearing her name. Blade is the only one with a red string around his bracer, Dan Heng does not. Despite both earings being red the designs are completely different if they were meant to be a match they would be the same or at least closer in design. The option where Dan Heng says he'll accompany Blade until the end as proof the relationship is romantic ignores the other option where Dan Heng tells Blade to just give up since they can't kill each other, indicating that the first option is just pure resignation that he'll never be rid of Blade until that time comes. While there may be hints of romantic undertones, every single bit is all on Blade/Yingxings side, none of it is on Dan Heng's. While it states that Baihengs name doesn't illicit any feelings for Dan Heng, there is no mention that Yingxings does, there is also the fact that despite his pride Dan Feng would always run errands for Baiheng, hinting they were close, and also despite claiming the name elicits no feelings for him Jingliu was immediately able to tell that Dan Heng had recalled some memories of Baiheng something that indicates that it did indeed elicit feelings on his face. Jingliu's forecast starts out the same way Blade and Dan Heng's do by saying a sword and then the length and weight which only changes as she is getting older in them. Fansongs are not canon, hell there is a recent Hoyofair video where it ships Baiheng and Yingxing. You can't say those songs shipping Dan Heng and Blade together are actually canon and deny a video shown off by MiHoYo shipping Baiheng and Blade. she brings up some Chinese ad in which she says Dan Heng is blushing because he sees Blade is now in the room, however look at the dialogue when that happens, his pose and expression when it happens, he gets a very serious look on his face points out to the audience and says something along the lines of "this is where you will be buried while your bones are being dissected", while they are telling a story in the ad its very clear that Dan Heng is saying that directly to Blade.

@@Vandalieu He has the same expression when remembering both Baiheng and Yingxing. In the Yingxing part, more emphasis was placed on facial expressions instead of just showing his back as was the case with the Baiheng part. For the part about Dan Heng not remembering the Blade as Yingxing, and remembering Jingliu once he met her, it may have two explanations. 1) Maybe it's because Yingxing changed so drastically that he became a Blade, while Jingliu didn't change. 2) It is simply a plot device. Dan Heng's reaction when meeting Jingliu is contradictory to what he mentioned when meeting Blade in the Trailblaze Mission, where he mentions that there was also a woman who was pursuing him, who thought was Jingliu because it was impossible for there to be someone other than her. Furthermore, you contradict yourself when you mention that "Just give up" should not be overlooked when talking to Blade, while when meeting Jingliu there is the option of not getting to know her. Which video shown off by MiHoYo shipping Baiheng and Blade? Baiheng literally only appeared in Jingliu's Companion Mission.
@Vandalieu

@@wajdmaa1196 there is no contradiction, when saying that he remembers Jingliu a little, as she outright calls him a liar when he says he doesn't, which is later shown to be the case when he has a flashback of Baiheng when Jingliu mentions her name yet can lie and get called out by Jingliu who is aware that you are lying, in other words the other option where he says he doesn't remember or that he didn't recall a thing are both lies. Contrast that with his backstory in his light cone and base form story which makes it clear that Dan Heng didn't remember Blade at all only knowing that Blade hated him for some reason despite the fact the only thing that changed was that Blade's hair was black again instead of white. It literally took Jingliu talking about Yingxing's past for Dan Heng to even recall him, and later for her to say Yingxing became immortal for Dan Heng to realize that Blade was Yingxing. It had to be spelled out to him for Dan Heng to remember Blade was his old friend, depite having met him multiple times up to that point. The Blade/Baiheng thing comes from from the passerby's ragged embroidered coat, where it talks of a jaden flask he was planning to give to his bosom friend only to realize with shock the person he longed for was no longer there. Which is later proven to be Baiheng in Jingliu's character quest where she places the flask he made on her starskiff lamenting he was not able to give it to Baiheng.

@@Vandalieu Yes, he is lying if you choose the first option after remembering her. "This name is unfamiliar to you and elicits no feelings. However, a voice inexplicably rings in your ears." He just remembered her, but she not elicits any feelings for him, unlike the Yingxing part, which it wasn't even given options to choose. When meeting Jingliu. "Do I... know you? Dan Heng: Do we... know each other? Jingliu: Hmm... the answer to that is both yes and no. However, your cold and indifferent tone is identical to the person I knew back then." She didn't accuse him of lying. Not recognizing Blade as Yingxing. I mean personality, not appearance, this is highlighted visually in scenes in Jingliu's Companion Mission. Consider that I'm leaning toward it being a plot device, given the problems with Xianzhou's story. So you mean relic of beta and not video. Then go and read some of the OP's comments here, she talked about this argument.

@@wajdmaa1196 getting a flash after just hearing her name is way more than what it took him to remember who Blade was, despite clearly meeting and killing Blade multiple times, saying poor story writing is the cause of just an excuse for how much it took Dan Heng to remember Blade. Claiming that an items story that was released in the beta doesn't matter when it has remained true and even partially brought up in Jingliu's makes no sense as an argument. His other option where he says he she looks familiar but doesn't recall her has Jingliu say that everyone who says they can't remember are just running from their past, and right before talking in length about Yingxing, Jingliu calls Dan Heng out for pretending to not remember a thing in an angry tone which also shows in her responses to the first 2 options, the third where he he says that Dan Feng's past doesn’t have anything to do with him lacks the agressive tone, showing she did not believe for a second that he didn't recall her when they met.

Also, the connections between renheng and the song of everlasting regret (the story of Yang Guifei) Dan Feng / Dan Hegn share an extreme amount of similarities with Yang Yhuan (Yang Guifei) in a narrative sense. This also links to his relationship with Blade / Yingxing. Both Yang Yuhuan and Dan Feng were made to carry the shame of being 'the end of a dynasty' (Guifei with Tang Dynasty, Dan Feng / Dan Heng with the end of the Yubie Dynasty) the reason? Love. Yang's love for Emperor Xuanzon was blamed for the weakening of China's court and resulted in civil war while love was used to manipulate Dan Feng into committing his sin. Both were scapegoats for a bigger plot. The title of the poem 'Eternal Regrets of the High Elder' is also a reference to Song of Everlasting (or Eternal) Regret we're using the same character for regret. Both poems talk about how Guifei and DF are made to make decisions they know they will regret for their beloved, for the mere chance of making them happy, even if they also cause them pain. They also carry associations with jade being used to interconnect romance, clouds, and the concept of 'heaven' (i will continue this text later!)

(First and foremost I'm a Genshin player, not a HSR player, but I really enjoy the lore HSR has) I enjoy shipping male characters, but most of the stuff is just my own personal interests. I usually don't hard core ship without good evidence. Like I enjoy the Neuvillette/Wriothesley ship but there's not really much canonically going on. However, Kaveh/Alhaitham is very hard to ignore. After reading and watching so many people explain Dan Heng and Blade's relationship it's so difficult to deny it, especially with all the symbolism and understanding China's way of getting around censorship. I'm extremely happy that you put in so much effort to explain the culture in particular since a lot of people dismiss symbolism as "grasping at straws." Knowing that MiYoHo/Hoyo is very eager to ship same gender couples also explains so much. Sad that the censorship got so bad. I feel like Genshin could have had a lot of interesting character dynamics if they were allowed to go further. I'm looking forward to see what else we learn about Dan Heng and Blade and if there will be any more strongly suggested pairings in the future.

So there was a JingHeng shipper that came into the comments, wrote an essay, then deleted the comment (they know who they are). I had the essay saved because I was writing a response but since the comment is gone I'll make this comment to respond in case they come back. There was a lot of misinformation in that comment so I feel it is necessary to still address what they said. (Apologies because I do get a bit sassy since its hot rn and I get moody in hot weather.) It's also slightly out of order in some sections. And I reached word limit so there's two comments.... 1. You said: "the idea that caelorum venti wanted to free dan heng and the ten lords commission wanted to kill him is the most glaring inaccuracy in this video. in an appeal from the vidyadhara, in the screenshot shared itself, it is written that the alliance and caelorum venti together made the deal of punishing dan heng through molting rebirth." I guess if you squint your head and tilt it sideways you can read that passage as the 10 lords being so benevolent and Venti is the murderous one, but your interpretation makes no sense from a contextual standpoint. The 10 lords are the ones who are responsible for punishment and have the largest authority - no way they would need to make a deal with Venti in order to get HIM to allow THEM to not punish Dan Feng. That just doesn't make sense. Not to mention, in The Dragon Returns Home, this is given additional context: "Caelorum Venti of the Yaoqing put forward a strong case for you, and the Ten-Lords Commission spared you from capital punishment. But the punishment of molting rebirth could not be avoided." 'Put forth a strong case for you' means he was defending Dan Feng, since the capital punishment would have killed him permanently as the Vidyadhara that are killed before returning to the sea are properly dead. 2. You said: "the preceptors had their own power struggle after the sedition, his own teacher manipulated dan feng to even have had the research or protocol for th resurrection. the preceptors and the vidyadhara were divided in groups of whether they wanted the high elder system (and their alliance with the xianzhou natives, whom some of them think to not benefit their race) or whether they wanted their own autonomous rule, and dan feng's unreliability gave them the perfect opportunity to snipe the xianzhou-vidyadhara partnership. these are implied, not outright stated, but refer to the internal strife among the vidyadhara and their reaction to the general freeing him, it is evident that the ten lords were satisfied with dan heng's exile." You are correct that the preceptors did have their own power struggles, as demonstrated in the Preceptor Assembly Chronicle. I think you've misunderstood something, though - it's not that they were arguing over the state of their alliance with the Xianzhou, but rather whether they were going to continue subscribing to HE authority or commit to ruling together as a council. This is HE vs council debate IS clearly stated in the text of the readable and does not have to be inferred. Xuepu says: "...After the sedition, the Vidyadhara's reputation has been incredibly tarnished. If we don't turn the other cheek and show friendship, it could damage our alliance with the Xianzhou people. And that's undoubtedly what the Preceptors would hate to see. Therefore, I propose that the Luofu Vidyadhara should temporarily move away from the rule of the high elder and instead submit to rule by the council of Preceptors, to ensure [Missing]." While it does mention the alliance, that is not the core of the debate they are having. Fenghuan's response to her makes that extra clear: "but Xuepu's message rings loud and clear. She wants to take advantage of [Missing] being cut off to completely replace the High Elder position with the Preceptor Council." The agenda is obvious to everyone and is even clearly stated for our convenience. They did not need to "snipe" a xianzhou-vidyadhara partnership because they already had one. From Ichor: "In the Year 7379 of the Star Calendar, the Imbibitor Lunae Dan Feng caused turmoil that threatened the sacred wood. The Cloud Knights joined forces with the Vidyadhara Preceptors to assault him." I should mention that the Preceptors also seem to be divided into at least two political groups, probably more, and will not always be functioning as a singular body. 3. You said: "this is why they don't complain about dan feng's lengthy imprisonment (during which the high elders including caelorum venti carried out the interrogation) and molting rebirth, but they do complain about his exile- directing their anger at jing yuan. this proves that jing yuan orchestrated dan heng's exile by only consulting the ten lords, who approved his decision. since the high elders of the vidyadhara do not get what they wanted either, it is highly unlikely that they are to be credited for dan heng's exile." The Vidyadhara were angry about Jing Yuan releasing Dan Heng because this means they have officially lost their control of him and any possibility of getting his HE information etc. The one who sent that letter was Preceptor Shaoying who, according to Observational Monument on the Roots of the Arbor, is the one of the people who was collecting the samples from the Ambrosial Arbor. These are likely the same samples used by the Alchemy Commission (headed by Dan Shu's Predecessor at the time, but continued by Dan Shu) in their experimentations. The goal of these experimentations, as the Predecessor makes clearly when talking to Bailu and Dan Heng, is related to Bailu, who is the Bloomborn Scion, and they believe they are close to figuring out Vidyadhara reproduction stuff. Preceptor Shaoying is annoyed because losing Dan Heng sets them back on this agenda. This makes even Jing Yuan suspicious as he wonders, after their appeal, why are they so reluctant to let him go? Obviously, Jing Yuan surely freed Dan Heng from the prison to spare him from the abuse he suffered there, but I do wonder what he expected to happen when Dan Heng reached the end of his lifespan? He couldn't return to the sea to be reborn so it was more or less just another death sentence (clearly this is also why the 10 lords would have agreed to let him go, too). I also wonder why it took him centuries to do it - one would think he might be a bit hastier to help his friend, no? 4. You said: "Molting rebirth can hardly be called the definition of a reduced sentence." People die when they are killed. The options were death, which would have killed him permanently, or rebirth, which doesn't kill him permanently. 5. You said: "(during which the high elders including caelorum venti carried out the interrogation)" There's nothing to suggest that the other HEs participated in the interrogation of Dan Feng/Dan Heng. All we know about them is that Venti argued for him and Marum did not want to help him when her preceptor suggested punishing DF's preceptors. This seems to be your own fabrication and headcanon. "Hand over the transmutation arcanum and the preceptors will spare your life" - Ichor of Two Dragons. "Our solemn responsibility is to confiscate the Transmutation Arcanum and the Orb of Abysm from Dan Feng to uphold the continuation of the Ichor Lines." - Preceptor Taoran, Preceptor Assembly Chronicle Fragment. Perhaps you think it was the High Elders because DH:IL 4 says "He dreamed the elders coming and going to interrogate him about the truth of the Arcanum and the whereabouts of the dragon heart. He did not speak." The elders are not the High Elders. They use elder sometimes to refer to the preceptors, in fact Dan Heng does this himself in The Dragon Returns Home when addressing a mirage echo: "Elder, look around you. You've long since reincarnated. What remains here are just the mirages of the waters of the ancient sea." It happens often. 6. You said: "the abomination terminology being only specific to the denizens of abundance is also false." If you could name a single time the abomination terminology is used to refer to something that is not a denizen of abundance, I would love to be proven wrong. I didn't realise this would be something that people would find fault with, but go ahead... Even JY himself makes this clear when first addressing Luocha as "abomination of Yaoshi" in the cinematic. 7. You said: "it was baiheng who yingxing made the flask for, it was baiheng who blade referred to at the end of jingliu's companion mission lamenting why it was her who got buried, burnt to ash and forgotten." Yes the flask is (probably) for Baiheng. The flask is not special, though. Yes it was Baiheng who was being talked about in the JL companion mission. But, as explained clearly in the video, it was Jingliu's words because at the time of his "training" we are repeatedly told how Blade was empty-minded, not given a chance to respond before killed again, etc etc... so those words are still Jingliu's. The game even makes that extra clear by overlapping JL and Blade's voices at the start, just so the extra oblivious audience members can easily catch onto the fact that most of his sentiments have been carved into his every wound by Jingliu.

Part two... 8. You said: "but it is pretty obvious that blade loved baiheng and had no other motive for participating in her resurrection." It's 'pretty obvious' if you ship Dan Feng with Jing Yuan and you're looking for literally any reason to diminish the relationship between Dan Feng and Yingxing because it makes you uncomfortable that half of your ship was so clearly involved with another person. 9. You said: "the pronouns in the passers-by relic refer to three different people, the unnamed, the owner of the bracer, and the beloved." Yes. This is absolutely true. The unnamed = Blade. The owner of the bracer = Dan Feng. The beloved = Yingxing, who is considered dead and a separate person by Blade. Covered that in the video... starting to wonder if you actually watched it... 10. You said: "and that bit about him not recalling baiheng till he joined the stellaron hunters- we don't even know if he was pursuing dan heng until the stellaron hunters. we do know that his memory was fragmented by jingliu and that he was wandering like a corpse in exile till kafka and sam found him. blade did not exchange the promise of dan heng's death with elio, he exchanged the promise of his own death, alone. we don't have any way to confirm that he remembered dan heng before he remembered baiheng and ruling out that she was the beloved." Actually, we do. All of the character stories and relic sets are presented in chronological order in HSR. Both Blade character stories and Passerby of Wandering Clouds consistently place the pursuit of Dan Heng as prior to joining the stellaron hunters. This is also how we know that he recalled Baiheng's death last. To be clear, the wikis for some reason put the relic sets out of order which can be confusing. The correct order is the order presented ingame in the relic backstory: Head > Hands > Body > Feet. He was pursuing Dan Heng and remembered beloved turned to monstrosity in the hands and he joined SH and remembered Baiheng's death in the body. Likewise, in the his story, he was pursuing Dan Heng in part 2 and he was found by the SH in part 3. 11. You said: "blade did not exchange the promise of dan heng's death with elio, he exchanged the promise of his own death, alone." Umm... from PWC Feet "The slave promised to bring an eternal end and a final funeral to the unnamed's life and to everything he had ever hated." 12. You said: "我會奉陪到底的 is much closer to dan heng meaning he's offering to follow through what blade wants- implying he is up for killing him. dan heng has understood why blade pursues him, why the pursuit is necessary for him, and why the goal of his pursuit is not dan heng's death. thus, he can avoid the danger he thinks he is in by ending the pursuit and giving blade what he wants." You are right that Dan Heng is offering to follow through with what Blade wants, which is the eternal end and final funeral to the unnamed's life and to everything he had ever hated, but Idk how you managed to misunderstand the end of Clouds Leave No Trace so severely. Blade even courteously goes to the effort of telling you "this is the price the TWO OF US must pay." Then, he tells DH "Elio's script require you to stay alive, for now..." Even Blade's voiceline for Dan Heng reaffirms it: "Imbibitor Lunae... When will OUR retribution come? How can OUR debt be repaid?" This idea that Blade only wants to die alone and ~doesn't actually want to kill Dan Heng, too~ is a fanfiction. 13. You said: "he asks jing yuan immediately after to reaffirm if he still thinks he has a choice to turn things around, to live without having to kill his ex friend." This is so random and baseless? The order that you bid farewell to the characters is optional. I have it recorded, my order went JL then JY > YQ > Blade. I can't fathom how you think this was him going to JY last to seek consolation about having to kill Blade. JY even says "she's gone" to indicate to us that he's talking about Jingliu. 14. You said: "换盅 is between the parents of the bride and groom, not between the bride and groom themselves." So you admit its a reference to marriage? At least there's that... unfortunately for you, we're talking about an orphan and an infertile species that rebirths itself so... not sure what parents you are referring to?
@Taff3ta_

Gosh I'm sorry you had to deal with that baseless essay after making such a detailed, well-research video. I completely understand liking other ships and/or disliking Renheng but trying to 'disprove' all this canon lore instead of just accepting it's simply not your preferred dynamic is insane. Most of the time you just end up making you and your ship look bad. Especially with Jingheng, like there is actually content in-game that supports it that doesn't necessarily clash with Renheng? Also I find it hilarious that 98% of people saying YX/Blade was romantically interested in Baiheng are Renheng antis. It's fine if you genuinely like the Baixing but using it as an argument against Renheng is wild when your pitting deleted content about a vague 'crush' against literally everything said in this video. It's giving off coughing baby vs hydrogen bomb energy.
@LalodysLore

@@Taff3ta_ fr I actually like Jingheng as a ship for fun it's just... the lore isn't really there for it. All the potentially cute things, like Jing Yuan letting him out of prison for example, get soured when I remember it took him centuries to do it and it also dooms DH to perma die eventually. Plus... Yes Jing Yuan treats him nicely which is sweet but that's not something unique to his interactions with DH and it is just who he is. And there's nothing from Dan Heng's side that could imply to me that he is interested in JY. I also find the idea of Blade loving Baiheng romantically to be absolutely hilarious because it conjures the image of the ultimate incel!Blade who went his entire life pining for a woman with no interest in him only to attempt to resurrect her using the power of the enemy after she dies in a heroic self sacrifice then proceed to get tortured by the other person who was obsessed with Baiheng. Gives Otto Apocalypse vibes and I just don't believe Hoyo will go that path again, esp not with all this focus on Renheng lore. Plus it doesn't make sense from a timeline pov, either, which I've explained already. But some people unironically want him to love her and its like... yall realise if that's true she never loved him back or else he wouldn't have had a problem giving her the flask like??? Lmfao only Blade antis could ship this. Yingxing does not deserve this slander.

@@vfsberry7491he doesn't call himself the beloved. He calls Yingxing the beloved. Blade doesn't think him and Yingxing are the same anymore. He sees Yingxing as a completely different person. This is supported by his last character story, "Now, ██ had died. His first - and only - death." And also by Jinglius companion quest, "You used the sword Yingxing crafted...and pierced, sliced, and impaled me time and time again...". Whenever he talks about Yingxing it's always in 3rd person. My god i will always be obsessed with lovers to enemies but i just can’t imagine a relatively “happy ending” to their story i still don’t know everything about their lore but one of the reasons why they fascinate me might be that they remind me of mdzs. i see yingxing as what will have happened if wei wuxian soul actually shattered and he got changed by the resentment (mara here) as both were proud arrogant yet extremely kind men that didn't want to leave any regrets in their life, making the story impossibly more tragic and dan feng cold personality that others misinterpret as heartless as lan wangi especially as he is so much of a simp that he gave away his heart to his beloved. From what I can gather, the relationships are something like this: Dan Feng and Yingxing were really close to each other. Dan Feng had mutual respect with Jingliu but not necessarily close friendship (they had a duel that lasted a few years until one of them won so I imagine they enjoyed sparring each other). JL says they were best friends in EN but in CN its actually life-and-death friends (which they all were to each other as members of the HCQ). JL did not like YX's attitude but respected him as a brilliant craftsman. Yingxing and Baiheng were close friends (YX calls her bosom friend, assuming the Jade flask was still about her). Jingliu and Baiheng were really close, they would fly around together in her starskiff stargazing and drinking wine that BH brought from her travels. DF and BH seemed friendly enough for DF to run errands for her and for her to tease him. JY seems to consider them all to be friends but says he was never close to JL. Seems like although JL was the leader of the group, it was Baiheng who actually befriended them all and JL was distant to everyone except her. DF and YX had their little bracer romance corner. JY was the youngest one. Also seemed like JY and YX would argue in a banter way.

Hey yeah I contemplated those things also but really it's not something they could've realistically messed up accidentally. They would've had to have animated and exported the scene with various different backgrounds and intentionally edited them together. Plus they opted to create a broken statue model for a reason. And with that broken statue being the opening shot it'd be really hard to miss in editing. The outfit DHIL wears is not exclusive to Dan Heng. At the start of DHIL trailer (with Phantylia) you can see the blue screen that flips to red. In both pictures, Dan Feng is wearing the DHIL outfit. He's also wearing it in Blade's memories in his trailer, as well as the flashback sequences in Ichor. The OG statue also suggests it's been a thing since Yubie so I consider it a magical girl outfit ATP. The reason the statue is unaffected in the Ichor video is because it's happening in the present, not the past. I think the sea-splitting animation was flipping between past and present.

I'm not someone invested into HSR ships at all compared to Genshin but Renheng called my attention back in the day as they seemed to have some of the deepest lore ties for the past. I didn't get deep into it though because there was drama months ago involving the translations about the relics set and the whole beloved identity, it got so tiring to read I walked away and just became an ocassional observer of stuff related to the ship. Basically the whole mess involved the non Renheng shippers vs Renheng shippers that claimed the set referred to the pair, while the detractors claimed the beloved was meant to be Baiheng as it seemed like Blade had some crush on her, then others claimed it was Dan Feng crushing on the foxian. Clash online was hard to follow up for me as both sides said they knew Chinese and they all stood by being in the right with their knowledge, hard to find also someone in the middle ground to give more light onto who was right and wrong or if both had a point to certain degree, reminds me of Genshin ship drama were also both sides know Chinese and ones use to justify the ship while others to bash on it. I still don't know who to believe in that as everyone will frame it to their benefit, but regardless of that, it's nice to see all the other connections and ties the ship has, the compilation of the details was nice and I can see more of how the relationship works, excluding the relic detail which felt like one of the key points back in the day. Overall pretty good video and research~

In my opinion, it makes little sense from a narrative perspective to give them a complicated emotional backstory, especially one involving misunderstandings and psychological manipulation, only to have their relationship stagnate where it was at the start of the game. The bracer lore already told us Hoyo's intentions to savor the bottle of resentment until it's empty.

I'm actually a little confused with the wanderer's passeby set tbh. The 'unnamed' is Blade but also refers to Yingxing when Blade recalls his memories as him? Particularly in the bracer lore with all the things Yingxing did alongside Dan Feng. So why would the 'beloved' also be referring to Yingxing if 'unnamed' was used for both of them just before? I completely understand Blade referring to Yingxing in third person but it feels weird to suddenly switch like that in the same sentence. Is it suppose to symbolise the act that turned Yingxing into Blade? I've personally been teetering between Yingxing beloved (romantic to DF) and Baiheng beloved (platonic to HCQ or romantic to JL) and this has part has always bugged me.

Personally, I attribute it to Blade just being weird about his identity. He knows he is Yingxing but doesn't use his name to refer to himself. He refers to Yingxing in 3rd person during his story 4 and in the JL quest cutscene but does also refer to them both as 'the unnamed' in some of the thoughts. He also refers to Baiheng as the Bosom Friend so, if the beloved was referring to her, he would also be calling her two different names in the same relic set. IMO it's a detail that doesn't matter that much. What matters is that Blade only refers to his inner demon as a monster/monstrosity, using the same CN as beloved turned to monstrosity. And of course, as I said in the video, he didn't recall she died until well after he remembered the beloved was single-handedly buried so it wouldn't make sense for it be Baiheng chronologically.

Hi, I know all about it and the mirror. Unfortunately, scrapped beta content is not canon so not worth looking into, since it didn't make it to canon for a reason. There's a million things from the beta that they scrapped, not just those items. Like the idea of the dragon king breathing life into things, for example. Besides, YX feeling shy and blushy over the jade flask doesn't actually mean that much, anyway. People like to bring up this item like it's some kind of trump card but the beta items still implied XY were engaged, which people thought would get changed, and still called BH his friend. And considering Hoyo's history, I'm more inclined to think they had that stuff in beta just to slip past censorship than actually intended to have a heterosexual romance between main characters in a Hoyo game lolol. Another thing for you to consider, if Blade and Baiheng were a couple then Blade would have no reason to be so hesitant about gifting her a flask. Do you really think he went his whole life pining for a woman who clearly never returned his feelings only for her to die and for him to doom everything trying to resurrect her?? Is he some kind of Otto Apocalypse 2.0??

Well they said that their story would been ending into a tragedy which happened but still their story isn't over yet so there might be still a chance for them Whatever will happen they are destineted to ruinite one day. And also Dan heng attitude seems to be changed now when refering to Blade Problably Dan heng after knowing who Yingxing was for Dan Feng the feelings that Dan Feng had towards him affected him too as well Dan heng himself said that he didn't want to life like Dan Feng did but Blade and Yingxing aren't the exactly same person since in his storyline he doesn't refer Yingxing as Himself but as a now dead person so problably those kind of feelings are just similar eachoter and additional those words that Dan heng said are only his own opinion and his will Afterall the feelings Dan Feng had towards Yingxing aren't something he decided by his own But afterall they story isn't over yet and even if so they might be still a few of Screen time of them which I hope Dan heng seems to clearly care about Yingxing but also to Blade...maybe Anyway hope you still aren't whit an broken heart and I warmed that one of yours have a good day See ya : )

I feel like the baiheng part could be answered by simply that Dan Feng, Yinxing and Jingliu in a moment of grief tried to either revive her or give her a new life by giving birth of a new being due to the recent lost of dear friend who also was the anchor of the entire group overall it's possible that Jingliu being the one that was so in love with baiheng pulled some strings behind the scenes to make Dan Feng and Yinxing to make them try to revive baiheng

While Jingliu is definitely the one most obsessed with her, I don't think it makes sense for her to participate in a resurrection willingly, especially given her reaction to finding them in her character story 4 (unless it's post mara and she's in her crazy girl era). Resurrection is a major taboo in CN culture which is why trying to resurrect her would be considered a big sin. I think the only way it makes sense for our main characters to have participated in a resurrection is if one or more of them are being controlled by Shuhu. We already have a villain who is known explicitly for resurrecting people as abominations and messing with people's perceptions as well as two characters who are being punished by the 10 Lords specifically for falling victim to Shuhu's corruption (Hanya and Xueyi) which feels like a distinct parallel to our main characters and definitely like a nudge from Hoyo. This idea would also explain why Jingliu assumed Yingxing brought a piece of Shuhu - fighting the abomination reminded her of Rahu, who was resurrected by Shuhu, but it may have not been that either of them tried that but that Shuhu was there himself as part of them. I'm still not sure it actually happened like that because there's too much lore that works against a resurrection plot but if it did happen this is, to me, the only actually sensible explanation for it.

@@LalodysLore while it's possible I don't know how that will work because shuhu was already dead by the time they tried to bring baiheng back and there's also something weird about blade's inmortality in some things it's speculated that Yinxing has the dragon heart plus shuhu flesh and also if we consider that Jingliu is really old and probably had signs of being struck by Mara it's plausible for Jingliu to just go crazy and cause chaos but to be honest I feel like what you wrote is possible but there could be a third wheel of fate that hasn't been discovered yet and considering the polemic with the high cloud quintet writer aka the writer named baiheng

@@evisl.w6552 There's actually lots of reasons to believe that Shuhu survived. One such reason is that he was supposedly detained by the Ten Lords through a redacted method in Ten Lords Commission Criminal Directory. Jingliu says that Shuhu "disappeared without a trace and there are no records of his remains, either." IMO it would be very bizarre story telling for them to introduce a major villain in the backstory of multiple main characters only for it to have actually died to an attack by an NPC.

I personally don’t ship renheng myself, actually quite the opposite. I would be arrogant if I said they weren’t implied in the past. But…i feel it’s best Dan heng moves forward in his life especially knowing he doesn’t remember much of his past self. Dan heng is happy with the express crew and that’s what pushes me to want him out of the burden his past incarnation gave him. A part of me believes blade can never be fixed or healed. Also most of the romantic implications came from blades/yingxings side rather then Dan hengs. Maybe Dan heng has a longing for yingxing but I dont think he will ever long for blade. It feels more like they are doomed to fail. Despite DH and DF being the “same person” I think it’s better to see them as two completely different people. Though this is my personal opinion. I will forever believe dan heng needs to move forward. Thank you for the analysis. I really wanted to understand their past. ❤

Moving forward doesn't have to mean giving up on his tortured lover. Maybe I'm too much of a romantic but it'd be disappointing to see them separated after everything they went through together, especially knowing most of Blade's current attitude is conditioned into him by Jingliu. And from a narrative pov it'd be kind of... Shallow(?) To add all this stuff about bracers=red string of fate etc. They didn't have to make their relationship have a romantic tone and could've kept it friends to enemies but chose to imply they were married for most of Yingxing's life. They already told us the bottle of resentment was to be savoured til it was empty so they'll get there eventually in my opinion.

So... if Yingxing was "the beloved" who was turned into a mosntrosity...did Dan Feng perform some kind of ritual to make him immortal against his will? If they really were that close and even romantically involved, Dan Feng should know better than anyone that Yingxing doesn't want to be immortal or have a long life, so why would he do such a terrible thing to the persone he supposedly love?

You're assuming he wouldn't want to be turned immortal. As much as he was a short life, he did envy the long life people. Regardless, we can see he was still by Dan Feng's side right up until Jingliu found them and after he had already become an immortal. I don't think he had a grudge against Dan Feng for this until Jingliu's 'lessons'.

@@LalodysLore well I thought that because, as you mentioned something similar, he was proud of being a short life species, but before I started watching theories online my first thought was actually that. I thought Dan Feng and Yingxing himself wanted him to turn immortal so they could be together for a longer time, assuming they were lovers and of course didn't want to separate so soon. But the story was still too blurry to be sure ;v; funny how I've watched so many theories since that part of the story was released and I ended up at the same point where i started. <a href="#" class="seekto" data-time="1440">24:00</a> Hm... to be honest, I actually do still believe that "the beloved" is referring to Baiheng, with the 'monstrosity' being what Dan Feng and Yingxing created when they tried to revive Baiheng. Just to play the devil's advocate, you made a point about Blade only remembering that Baiheng had died after he had been picked up by the Stellaron Hunters, so the "beloved" couldn't have been referring to Baiheng. "The one who single-handedly buried the beloved - was you." - Blade Character Story II The timeline there is a bit fudged but there are strong implications that he only started pursuing Dan Heng after he joined them, considering his put-together appearance in the "Nowhere to Run" lightcone (since he only regained that appearance after Kafka's makeover lol). It could be argued that the scene depicted in the LC was one of his many encounters with DH and he could also have hunted him before that. But in the Passerby of Wandering Cloud lore literally says, "The unnamed roamed everywhere in his exile like a walking corpse, until a woman in sunglasses and a person wearing colossal armor stood in his way," so I would actually put his Character Story II after the Passerby's Ragged Embroided Coat lore chronologically. Another point- the Passerby's Roaming Dragon Bracer says that Dan Feng "single-handedly turned the beloved into a monstrosity," and Blade's Character Story II says "The one who single-handedly buried the beloved - was you." However, by Jingliu's account in her story quest, Yingxing turning into an abomination was Yingxing's responsibility. Imbibitor Lunae's Character Story III also has suspicious wording: "He dreamed that he parted the ocean's waters and came to the palace ruin depths, *burying* the remnants of his old friend's hallowed blood." The old friend is of course Baiheng, the blood being what remained of her after she sacrificed herself. Blade's account is unreliable but I think it still has merit with this interpretation lol. All that said I do think that the interpretation that Yingxing is the "beloved" is valid too lol, especially considering some of the wording choices. I just find it fun to debate lore, and personally find it more believable that Baiheng is the "beloved" of the High-Cloud Quintet since her death is what began their fall. Would love to hear counterpoints if anyone has any!

Thanks for your response! Here's my thoughts on the matter: I don't think that the lightcone showing SH Blade changes anything about the timeline, imo. We only know that the chase stopped once Dan Heng boarded the express and we don't know the exact time that Blade joined the Stellaron Hunters. If he joined the SH before DH joined the express, there is a window of time that allows him to look put-together while also still pursuing DH. Also FYI, the Dan Heng in Blade's trailer is likely a fake hallucination (although it's also potentially Dan Heng joining him in the dream world during Nightmare trailer?). In terms of timeline, all we know for certain is that Blade did recall what happened to the beloved before he remembered Baiheng's death. HSR hasn't put any of the character stories or relic sets out of chronological order yet unless it mentions a flashback is occurring or something and I strongly doubt they'd do that just for Blade. I read through all of the relic sets to verify this, which you're welcome to do also. In terms of what Jingliu said about Yingxing turning himself into a monstrosity - Jingliu wasn't there. She doesn't actually know what happened and is inferring based on the situation she walked in on. The events of the sedition began and some the preceptors teamed up with the cloud knights to go and stop them. I'm actually not even convinced that the old friend's hallowed blood is even Baiheng's. Firstly, her blood wouldn't be considered 'hallowed.' Secondly, in JL story 4 Dan Feng claims to be using the 'blood of my race.' Thirdly, his actions are something that he claims are 'an unattainable desire that could not be carried out for long years in the past' and this occurs shortly after the battle with Shuhu which we know thanks to Yingxing, all bloody and wounded, saying, "Shuhu is dead... we won." So Baiheng should've only died very recently and I doubt he was planning to resurrect her before she died. I also strongly doubt that they'd have an easy time retrieving a few drops of blood, especially when Dan Feng was described as being in Shuhu's Sanguine Abyss which would've been all bloody. Something else of interest is that DHIL's idle actually refers to the rain/dragon growl as "old friends meet yet again." The water dragon/dead vidyadhara as the old friend's hallowed blood ticks all the boxes for old friend + hallowed + blood of my race + soul of my ancestor (dragon). What I believe happened is that Baiheng's attack during Dan Feng's dragon transformation to fight Shuhu caused heavy damage to both Shuhu AND the dragon. I think he rushed off to try and make a new one, reproducing permanence, with it's water corpse which instead resulted in the creation of the half-draconic abomination, especially if it involved the Arbor or Shuhu's influence (he definitely didn't die to Baiheng's attack). There's also evidence that the azure dragon might've died in the Exodus myriad at about 1:45 mins in when we see the Azure dragon (only dragon without legs that we know) slowly die to Taoran's voiceover: "Alas, Imbibitor Lunae forsook his oath causing a state of great disorder. The High Elders, too, bear mortal frailties." I'm so sure the abomination has to have contained his azure dragon because why else would he not be capable of stopping it himself? I think Jingliu fully believes that DF and YX were attempting to resurrect Baiheng. I don't think either of them actually were doing that, though, especially not when they were chatting about stopping the Arbor from bringing back more monsters. I think she believes that because she, herself, is so distraught by the loss of her closest friend and is projecting. Shuhu is also known for resurrecting stuff, so since the abomination reminded her of Rahu, she assumed the worst with her limited context. Edit to add: Hanya and Xueyi stories also show us that Shuhu is capable of causing people to hallucinate their loved ones as corpses. Corrupted Xueyi is shown the image of a dead Hanya, for example, when we know Hanya was very much alive in that scene from her POV. If the dragon was mixed up with Shuhu juices, causing it's corruption, it's entirely possible that Jingliu was now hallucinating Baiheng and believed that she killed Baiheng - especially because of how she starts becoming marastruck and then suddenly hears words "I will cut down even the stars in the sky" which is her promise to Baiheng, suggesting auditory hallucinations may have started. Once Shuhu gets in your head, he talks a lot about joining him and resurrecting your loved ones. I think any and all mentions of resurrection, which is a big taboo in CN, is to be attributed to him.

I read through the Passerby of Wandering Cloud relic lore and Blade's story but I didn't see anything that would confirm that Blade recalled what happened to the beloved before remembering Baiheng's death... My thinking was that Blade was a wandering zombie and didn't remember Baiheng's death until Kafka's makeover (relic lore), so his put-together look in the LC (Blade Story II) while he was chasing Dan Heng would've come after. Is there another relic with more info? I also had another thought... since the relic set is from Blade's perspective, why would he refer to Yingxing as the "beloved"? I know it was a prevailing theory before that it was referring to YX as DF's beloved but it still doesn't make sense to me in the context that the relic lore is written. I definitely believe there's strong evidence for the ship, I just don't think Blade would encapsulate Yingxing's entire existence as "DF's lover" lol. About the part with Jingliu placing the fault on Yingxing- I agree that both her and Blade's accounts are unreliable, but it's difficult to say what is or isn't actually true, and what could have been discovered afterwards... 🤔 Hm... I think you could have a point with the 'hallowed blood' part. The claim of 'an unattainable desire that could not be carried out for long years in the past' though- could that not have been referring to expanding the Vidyadhara race? To me, Dan Feng and Yingxing's conversation sounded more like... an affirmation that since the abominations will never die and keep coming back again and again, then to save the lives lost in the war they would have to do the same. Just to clarify my position, my current stance is that they were there to revive Baiheng and that Dan Feng or the preceptors had been researching a way to turn people/the dead into Vidyadhara using the Dragon Transmutation Arcanum. Which is what I think Hoyo wants people to believe... for now lol. Very interesting theory about the water dragon! I'll have to think on that some more... I wonder whether that could be related to the missing Dragon Heart? Also, I hadn't known that about Shuhu. Cool tidbit! I am curious though- does that mean you don't believe the Baiheng -> Bailu theory if they weren't there to revive Baiheng? Shared appearance aside, I feel that there are way too many hints towards it now for them all to be coincidences... and for it all to be a red herring feels a bit like bad writing to me lol. There were also hints about the semi-draconic abomination having lightning abilities and fur as well. Thanks for indulging me in this conversation lol!

@@cookizilla1772 Sure I'm happy to explain further. I'll list things in chronological order and hopefully that will clear it up: Blade Story One = No thoughts head empty Jingliu torture Passerby Head = Blade wakes up alone with no memories. He starts to remember stuff like his own identity, "the story of that tragedy," and that, "the curse of immortality still raged one, and the grudge of past misgivings never died out." Passerby Bracer = Blade uses his bracer to detect the other wearer. He remembers all the time he spent with the other wearer (Dan Feng). He remembers that DF stubbornly adhered to their plans, turned the beloved to a monstrosity, and pushed all into an abyss of eternal hatred and remorse. He thinks about how they're destined for an eventual reunion etc etc etc Blade Story Two = Blade is fighting Dan Heng and thinks about how he was the one who showed no mercy to enemies, single-handedly buried the beloved, and almost led the place called home to its destruction. Note: It's entirely possible that all of Blade Story Two takes place inside of a shared dream because of the line "before I witness your death in person" and how Blade was fighting a phantom DH inside his mind in his trailer. (DH story 2 confirms he is definitely being chased in person, too, as the ships are being blown up). Blade Story Three and Passerby Coat happen at the same time = He is found by Sam and Kafka. They fight until he is detained by Sam and they offer him Elio's bargain which he cannot refuse. They clean him up and it's now (in the coat) when he's remembering the 'hazy memory of the old days' that he makes up his mind to give the flask to Baiheng and remembers, with a shock, that she is gone. It's this scene that implies she is not the previously-recalled Beloved who was buried/turned to a monstrosity. Welt tells us in his 'About Dan Heng...' during The Voyage Continues that he doesn't know who is chasing DH and that the Express protects him, implying Blade hasn't attacked him (outside of dreams) since boarding the Express. There's also nothing that implies Blade stopped chasing him after joining SH, so it's in the narrow window between story3/coat and DH joining the express that the lightcone could take place. Alternatively, Blade wears Yingxing's clothes in the dreamscape and it's actually a scene from their dreams. Regarding DH:IL story 3, "let more people live on" is previously referring to a self-sacrifice to save other people. I don't think it implies resurrection. Same with the Vidyadhara's "own way of salvation." If the Vidyadhara had a way of reviving people/incorporating them into their race, they would never have this population crisis to begin with. I think Hoyo definitely wants people to believe they were resurrecting BH. Jingliu implies it, Yunhua also implies it. The similar appearances is no coincidence, as is their choice refer to both as Bai. The Baiheng=Bailu theory is clearly in a position where it's being given just enough to make people actually believe it... and yet... - Jingliu called Baiheng their comrade yet swaps her description last second to say that YX was 'helping DF resurrect his deceased companion.' "His companion" is a really, really weird way for JL to describe BH. - Hoyo gave us the undestroyed letters which reveal that Bailu is actually a miracle experiment (Bloomborn Scion) from Sanctus Medicus on Arbor branches sent by the Preceptors, as well as tell us that Yunhua (Dan Shu's Predecessor and the Kind Voice in DH quest) at some point figured out how to make a corpse grow horns and move around (braindead) using Vidyadhara bone marrow (similar to draught of draconic surge). Keep in mind Dan Shu (Highness in the letters) only joined Sanctus Medicus 30 years ago. - Hoyo tells us in Bailu story 2 that Bailu was NOT born with horns, despite multiple accounts of us knowing that High Elders should be born with horns: DH:IL Eidolon 6 picture, Tale of the Vidyadhara, the mural in Scalegorge Waterscape that shows the baby in the egg that has horns/tail. - Sanctus Medicus lied to Bailu about many things. She thinks her shackle is a HE decoration but we know from Bailu story 4 that it's to repress her full powers. Thanks to her maid's advice, Bailu lied to everyone about not dreaming, too. I would bet, as part of the experiments to create her, they injected her with Injection of Past Life Dreams when she was young and were monitoring her for signs of success - this is a thing they're not allowed to do unless the survival of the Vidyadhara race is at risk (an interesting thing for Hoyo to specify). - The preceptors tried to tell everyone that Dan Feng selected Bailu as his successor but we know, thanks to DH:IL 4, that the arrested Dan Feng said literally nothing to anyone even when he was being strung up and interrogated. When exactly did he speak to tell them about selecting Bailu as his successor? A Bailu who didn't even exist yet? Just saying, there's an awful lot of stuff that they've added in that contradicts the Bailu is Dan Feng's successor narrative that the Preceptors were pushing. In saying all this, it's likely that the success of the Bloomborn Scion was from cultivating the branches from the abomination dragon. In that respect, it's entirely possible that Bailu has the powers from the abomination through that route. One other thing that's overlooked is that the Cauldron Master's name is Baize (白泽) which is a Chinese mythical beast known for being a dragon/goat hybrid that flies high above everything and if, you kill it, you will be struck down by a bolt of lightning. Cauldron Master Baize was also the person who preserved/transcribed the Yellow Pneuma information that Sanctus Medicus use as the basis of their research into immortality. Anyway, there's so much more I could rant about in regards to the Alchemy Commission. I plan to make a whole separate video just about this topic. Hopefully this is enough to explain for now why I don't believe the Baiheng=Bailu theory. To me it seems like a "too obvious" joke that Hoyo is playing at.
