Don't you know? Every player that wears your favorite laundry is inherently better, not just as a player, but as a human being. They've never, ever committed a foul, and you grudgingly trade away benchwarmers for MVP's and say the other team got the better part of the deal. Well until they are off your team or miss a big shot then they are scum.

Dan is utterly in love with his narratives. He operates on the basis of a set of assumptions that he will not deviate from. Cronin wanted to take the power back. If he doesn't give Miami what they want, IT MUST be out of pettiness. Pat Riley has earned trust, therefore he must be trusted at all times...ie Herro is as good as Booker, Holiday doesn't have much value. The problem is that others are under no obligation to adopt their faulty valuations.

"The Heat would acknowledge to you that the total offer that the Blazers got is better" I don't think Dan or Amin or Jeremy whenever they hear this fully realize that essentially everything they've been saying for months until Wednesday has now been negated. If you want to argue that because of what he did for the franchise that Portland should've traded Dame to Miami, that's a perfectly coherent position and for Dan who tends to take a very pro-player stance on these issues would be the position I'd expect him to take. But that is the only basis to argue that Portland should've traded Dame to Miami because if the Blazers were going to view this at all based on how to best position the team moving forward, by the Heat's own account they shouldn't have taken their deal.

You make the whole episode like Dame wanted out of Portland just to be in a better city. Dame's only reason for requesting that trade was COMPETING FOR A CHAMPIONSHIP. He is in a better team now to win a ring, than Miami. Dame always has been honest and on the farewell he thank everyone and clearly stated he still loves Portland and the fans and everyone believes that. His only bad relationship is Cronin, but once he wins the well deserved ring/s he will realize it was for his own good. And btw his request to return back to portland was not permanent stay, but to wait till trade deadline or next summer till Heat makes the trade Portland wants (which couldnt have been better than what they got).

“Love to live in a place like Miami”? 🤔 I find it hilarious-but also a touching bit of local pride-that Heat fans are so convinced Miami weather is the card that trumps all competition for nba superstars. Damian Lillard spent over a decade in PORTLAND; he was a college star in UTAH. If bikini weather in January was so high up his list of lifestyle needs, wouldn’t he have asked out ages ago? Do some research on your trade targets, Sleepy Pat! Have you never seen this man in street clothes? Dame has the deepest, dopest knitwear bag in the league-total waste for South Beach, but there’s no better place to rock all those $5,000 sweaters than Milwaukee. Did Dame ever even mention Miami the city in his motivations for going to the Heat? Obviously, the draw for Dame was Spo, Bam, and Jimmy-and fact his trade request coincided with watching them scrap + claw to the finals, only to get smashed for lack of a lethal lead guard exactly like him. He saw that team as a perfect basketball fit, whether in Miami or Manitoba. Portland knew that once the hard feelings and the tunnel vision faded, Dame would obvious realize Giannis/Milwaukee fit him even better. Total arrogance from Riley to think time was on his side and Cronin would *have* to keep negotiating after Heat’s low-ball first offer.

Um, nobody in Portland would’ve given Joe Cronin credit for playing nice to preserve a relationship with Damian Lillard if, seven years from now, all-NBA point guard Scoot Henderson is approaching free agency and says “I can’t win with this roster around me-my career was sabotaged from Day 1 by this moronic organization taking scraps in a huge trade to soothe the ego of Old Man Lillard.” The Dame battle is over; Cronin’s war is now all about keeping his *next* franchise players happy-and the only way a small-market team stands a chance in the long run is hoarding as many assets as possible to jump-start a rebuild. See: OKC, Memphis, Pelicans, Utah. If Heat ever wants the assets needed to complete these superstar deals, perhaps it’s time to trade Jimmy?

Ironic that he accused AW for being a mouthpiece for Por while he’s being the loudest and biggest mouthpiece for Miami, all while glassing over that Haines is Dame’s mouthpiece as well. The hypocrisy is stunning as well. He and other gas-bagged how Miami and Pat hold the cards, that Por has no leverage and that the org has no choice but to acquiesce to the trade because Dame and Miami held all the power. He argued that Miami set their price and weren’t going to budge. That they don’t need because the power resided with the Heat. Few days ago he stated how Dame, through his agent, and help from Riley, joined to put Por in a disadvantageous position by making it public that it was trade toMiami only, no where else better not engage. Yet there Dan sat calling Cronin pettty when he put Dame in a better position and recouping better assets for the org than Miami was offering. Dan said Miami and Dame were willing to put Por in a poor spot, yet Cronin is the dirty one? It is disappointing to hear Dan double and tripple down with this verbiage.

Portland knew that once the hard feelings and the tunnel vision faded, Dame would obviously realize Giannis/Milwaukee fit him even better. Total arrogance from Riley to think time was on his side and Cronin would *have* to keep negotiating after Heat’s low-ball first offer.

Miami did not blow up the Celtics core, the Celtics core is Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum. Smart was a crucial piece yes but he had some glaring flaws and the Celtics could NEVER rely on Robert Williams whose always injured.

You gave up your bench and now have a hole in the interior. You have nobody behind AL and KP and there is no way in hell the sheet of glass that is KP and the corpse that is AL are going to play 48 minutes a night

@chriskay1449 lol gave up what bench and what interior defense??! Rob Williams is made of glass he's never played more than 61 games in a season his next highest is 51 and then his next 3 seasons he played no more than 32 games, he's the definition of unreliable. Brogdon is injury prone as well and his scoring production will be replaced by Payton Pritchard only other bench piece you could be talking about is Grant Williams and he barely played when Joe Mazzulla became the HC so again the Celtics replaced everything they lost

@@King_Mac80You ahve no bigs behind the sheet of glass and the corpse now that Time Lord is gone. Those two ain't playing 48 minutes a night. 61 games from Time Lord is better than 0 games because you have no other bigs on the bench. You are going to get killed inside while they leave Jrue wide open on the offensive end to collect all his bricks.

@chriskay1449 lmfaooo Robert Williams played 35 games last season wtf are you rambling about. Jrue Holiday is our 4th option and he's a better scorer than Marcus Smart. Celtics have already signed plenty of big depth to help in the regular season no team has 3 quality bigs we made it to the ECF last year and the finals the year before with just 2 we'll be fine. Tell Dame to learn to play some defense.

@@King_Mac80LOL the only thing Jrue is good at in the post season is laying bricks. Have fun when the opposing team leaves Jrue wide open and guard the other 5 knowing he will brick a ton of shots. Meanwhile you will get killed o the interior.

Which is fine. It's just that, if you admit that fact, Dan should probably shut his mouth about reporters being "bought and paid for" if they don't run Heat-friendly narratives like he does while also getting his panties in a bunch about the state of sports "journalism" all the time.

@@evannatland5151 What did Woj do that would have an effect on his neutrality? What Woj reported was actually true.....versus the bullshit Dan was saying at the time (Dan admitted Woj was correct). It doesn't matter if he was getting the information from the Portland front office.....it was the ACCURATE information...which is what a reporter is supposed to report. Dan was just being a little salty ass Heat fan and took umbrage at the suggestion they weren't going to easily get Dame in a trade.
