Absolutely enthralled by this series. My grandad was a pattern-maker for Vickers many years ago and I'd always be fascinated when he showed me how to do intricate woodworking. I love this series! Kinkade Guitars is very close to where I live, and I'd considered getting a guitar built there myself. When you consider how much a violin player or pianist pays for their instruments, and how much work goes into a guitar, 2.5 - 3k is really not very expensive at all -- quite the opposite. And you'll have a fantastic instrument for life, Dan!

I then found a lovely set of Brazilian 'Rio' Rosewood and Jonny built me a Kingsdown using this wood. I'm quoting (stealing) this bit from Simon Mayo: "The Victorians had a word for the room I write this in. They named all sorts of rooms but by far my favorite is the sluttery; a room in creative chaos. It's not a mess because of neglect or disregard but because great things are happening there. Which is the excuse I cling too but I suspect you all have similar rooms and I would like to re-invent the sluttery." Mr. Kinkead's workshop fits the definition perfectly...

Great series! I've seen other makers slightly bend the truss rod and set it near the fingerboard surface of the neck in a slot that's arched lengthwise along the neck and then capped with a comparably arched filler piece. That way when you tighten the truss rod it applies a straightening force to the arched slot in the neck causing the neck to flex backwards. More than one way to skin a cat. Which way is better I haven't a clue, but it doesn't matter as long as it does its intended job.
