Not a lick of sarcasm here...great interview! Dan W. is a writer through-and-through, careful with his words, quirky and interesting. Definitely going to follow him.

The lakers job isn’t as desirable as you would think. Lebron’s 40, he picks the players, he runs his own plays, he is forcing the lakers to draft his D-3 level son. Then if the team fails, it’s the coach’s fault?!

FACTTTSSSSSS unless a coach can come in and say trade bron and maybe AD too since he’s coming off his best season in a decade. Since Jeannie is addicted to famous people she won’t move away from bron he’s going to live out his last legs as a laker and the rest of his teammates are just along for his twilight ride.

Plus the NBA has shown that coaches get fired after great seasons. He's not getting fired at Uconn... ever

100% True. I live in L.A. and my friend works for the Lakers. He has said to me on several occasions that LE-FRAUD JAMES is a pri-madonna, and he has single handedly destroyed the organization. They are imploding.

Someone at the LAKERS should get fired over this. This is rock bottom for the Lakers.

TY... Does a high-profile college coach want to deal with an aging LeBron?...all the pressure to make a steak dinner out of a chicken salad (the current mediocre state of this franchise)? Money will ultimately be comparable at UConn and he shoots for history there (3-peat)

Low ball offer for the amount of effort required. The west is an Everest climb rn…post Lebron alone is probably worth that offer but not the now and the transition that will require to get there.

The Lakers “massive offer” turned out to be pretty wimpy. Hurley has a chance to be Dean Smith or Coach K…in L.A. he’s never going to be the alpha coach. Redick is handling it exactly right. No comment until after the Finals - he’s a real basketball lifer and knows all the unwritten rules.

The LAKER Coaching job and Organization hasn't been a desirable destination in over 20 years. It's a poorly run franchise with Super-Star players, other players in the league would rather not play along with. This dynamic won't change until they start from scratch by overhauling their front office and player roster

Bill Simmons discussed this on a podcast two weeks ago - he's not allowed to be a player-coach per the CBA. I would imagine that's accurate unless Bill is misinformed.

Player/coaches have unofficially been outlawed in sports. The reason being it is an easy way to circumvent the salary cap. For example you can sign Steph curry for $2million to be an asst coach/player and then have enough money to sign a superstar.
