In the early 30's a home-made 16 mm film, even one made by a famous designer of a famous surrealist would almost certainly have been silent. Rodney Sauer is works with the Mont Alto chamber ensemble to put traditional scores to silent film. So no, it's not the original music, which is a shame IMV because I don't think that it shares the precise sensibility of the dance.

Tilly Losch played Pearl Chavez's dark complected, native American mother in King Vidor's 1946 saga "Duel in the Sun". She is also given credit for creating the solo dance scenes. She only appears in the firm's opening scenes dancing provocatively in the Presido before she is murdered by her jealous husband. That dance evokes some of the artistic aspects of the "Dance of the Hands"

Is she influenced by Bollywood at this time? Did Bollywood exist? This video is lovely and fascinating, I have many questions about it!
