You choose to take drugs you live and deal with the consequences. Why should others make it their duty to help you? You have seen what drugs do to addicts and people who take it but you still take it and then blame others for not stopping you when you consciously decide to do drugs. @Hunter-ue3ny

DW does not make the documentary. What they did is they buy the license for the doc. The doc itself is/was produced by another company. This is why DW is able to pump out lots of documentaries. They simply have to pay the producers, do a voice over, add subtitles, do a bit censoring & editing here and there, etc. There is a whole market for this niche. What you should ask is what does DW gain for doing all of these? If it is money, then the next question is where does the money come from and what is the core transaction? (Follow the money) If the answer is public opinion, then the next question is what worldview does DW want its audience to believe in? What incentive DW is getting for having the audience to believe in such worldview? (Find the interest) *By the way, you should ask these questions for every single news/documentary/narrative channel that you watch.*

Well they are negligent as humans, similarly if there is an accident and you witness it but dont report or call an ambulance, there should be laws to charge you with negligence in the job of “being human”. @@aceboogisback9946 I'm not a clubber myself but I've been once in Berghain and Tresor to support my friend. Tresor was much cooler. Our anti fascista friend is right. Contemporary Berghain is designed for rich and showy tourists, to extort money from. The whole mythology transformed into a good marketing strategy. Business has always been a part of the equation but club itself is reaching level of a soulless company. For a DJ to perform in Berghain, it's kind of an achievement, a respectable point in their career, but better and more pleasant clubs are elsewhere. Some people research interesting DJs and follow them to cool, lesser-known clubs that they have known otherwise. It's an option instead of limiting one's experience to clubs endorsed by socialites, queuing for hours and getting into Berghain on Sunday noon. The club seems interesting but everything that happens there, takes place elsewhere and people aren't obligated to wear Balenciaga shoes to get into. DJs aren't exclusive either, unless you want to see a special party played by an artist you like.

I remember it hit me like a ton of bricks. It was the realisation that clubbing and going out drinking didn't make me wealthier, happier, healthier, or aid the development of meaningful relationships. Sure there were moments of fun and exciting interactions with girls, but in my heart I always knew it was superficial and more of a developmental cul de sac than a road to something better. After coming to terms with this shift in perspective I stopped going out and changed my lifestyle. Now I spend nights working on my side project, illustrating, building a solid relationship with my girlfriend and getting a good nights rest. I often find myself at home on a Friday night. I'm more productive than I've ever been. I've never been happier and more fulfilled. That's just my story. Make of it what you will. Each to their own. That said, I do believe that an untold number of people are caught in the trap of nightlife and know deep down that they ought to be doing something else with their time and energy. If you are on of those people, good luck to you. I hope you find your way.

I used to be a heavy party boy in the London underground club scene, drug was everywhere and in every club, I even knew a club who had its own dealers, everyone was queuing for buying 👻 I known it's sound crazy but it's true. For years I only saw darkness in the clubs, I never saw the sun. Nothing was more important to me than finding myself in this club atmosphere, with the techno music, which carried you away, everything was made of madness, I only lived through that and for that. And luckily one day I realized that I was destroying myself. And this realization allowed me to stop everything. By the end of that period, I had become a zombie. Clubbing and doing drugs was the norm, everyone I knew and saw in clubs were all on drugs and I'm talking about very heavy drug use. So of course there was a lot of fun, but behind this culture, there is the dark side. Addiction, mental problems caused by substance abuse, financial problems because drugs and clubbing are expensive. There is also death, which is present, and more often than one would think. I've known a lot of young people who died from overdose, I quit a long time ago now, but I still see some people from this time through social media and realize how destructive this lifestyle is, the price to paying for this extreme fun is health. I don't want to lecture anyone. But you should know that if you use drugs, the sooner you stop, the better it will be for you, and your HEALTH. Guys take care of yourself..... 🕊️💕

No wonder nowadays, there’s a pandemic of mental health. NHS is suffering. Young people are more depressed than ever before. I don’t condone it. People are free to do whatever they wish. But there should be more information on people's faces about drug use. So many people are now navigating through life with anxiety, heart diseases, panic attack, and depression, and many cases are due to their heavy drug use from their past, which is still taboo. I've been an electronic music lover for many years, played music for few years, saw all shades of clubbing since the age of 15, but as my love for the music grew, so did my hatred for drugs. I've never taken any drugs, except weed during all this years, because my love for the music was simply enough for me to make me go to the party. Even though many link drug "culture" with electronic music as an inseparable thing, I think that opinion was forced and implemented into society by the clubs, organisations, and media. Every club I've been to had a ton of security guards, even the police to secure the event and at least half the drug selling for the night, but when you step inside the club, at least five dealers would storm into your face, to ask if you need something. So, the bullsht like "it's not our responsibility", that club owners and management say is making me seriously mad, cause they get their part of the cake from the drugs that are sold at the event, and that part is a bigger one. And the police is useless, but highly funded, everywhere on this planet Earth. Anyways, great documentary, straight to the point!

The fact is you cannot completely stop drug use in the clubs. Demand will create the supply. If one club takes extra measures and bans it completely, then people will find another club that's not so strict. I believe german police have very good understanding of clubs & drugs, and they are doing their best. Berlin is wild city with wild parties. If such night sceneries were taking place in other parts of the world, including European, I've a feeling that death rate would be much worse. It may sound rude but a couple of deaths/year is nothing compared to what Berghain and similar clubs are able to give us.

I used to be a ''druggie'' aswell, im just going to name it like that because realisticly looking back, thats what we were, i couldn't party without, while xtc itself isn't really addictive in general, i still couldn't without as it felt empty. Me and my friends mostly just used xtc, it was after a while that one of my best friends started to get ''bored'' of using the same drug over and over again and wanted to try something new, and that ended up being meth. After a while he started significantly declining both visually and mentally as he got addcited to it in persuit of a new high. It ended up in him dying to a freak accident, but the root cause was still the meth, we weren't there at te time but we hear he went into some mental state in where he somehow allegedly ended up hitting a window of a shop with his fists and because of the glass breaking it cut right through his artery and he bled out. You cut your main artery, thats it, its over, you're dead within 2 minutes. The part where they talk about the clubs being negligent towards people in need really hits home for me, because we basically did the same thing to our friend, we were too busy with our own party and high. We should've just stopped him right then and there when his idea to try something new came up. After his death thats when my personal hard journey started to swear off the drugs. First and hardest part was probably admitting i was addicted even though i always tried to justify it by saying that i'd only use it on weekends at parties, man i remember constatly coming up with that same excuse ''don't worry i only use it in the weekend'', yeah right, but during those weekends i couldn't without. Without it just felt so empty, because all of your friends are doing it aswell, its the peer pressure that drags you right back in. Luckily i don't use any chemicals anymore, however i do occasionaly use marryjane but thats fine and tolerable to me as i don't depend on it. But that also required a lifestyle change, basically avoiding clubs. I guess most people just grow past it in their late 20s anyway. Which is where i am currently. You get fatigued at some point and im glad i got rid of that toxic lifestyle now, but still very ashamed that it took a death for me to first take that first step. Looking back at that time, it was fun in the moment itself, but very dark at the same time. I later reflected on it all and started to understand the point of view of my best friend better. And he was right, the xtc did indeed start to become stale after a while. Its no longer a new experience so you start looking for the next best thing. It's like going to a candy store while being extremely hungry. But at the end of the day we were basically playing russian roulette everytime we used, wether it be through a OD or a freak accident like above, or the need for a new high through a more dangerous and highly addictive drug. And unfortunately that wasn't the only occasion ive lost someone to drugs, ive had a relative crash their car at high speed into a car dealership under influence of a cocktail of chemicals and alcohol. And heard stories of friends of friends dying on ODs. If youre a regular user, make sure to do it safe, don't use alone, make sure to have friends with you incase stuff goes south because some clubs rather be rid of you then aid you. Your friends know you the best and how you normally respond and act. And if youre struggling with addiction, remember that the first step is admitting that you do have problems, do not be ashamed to reach out to people. People close to you, might be to your own surprise be very willing to help you further. Great documentary, alot of it is very indentifyable. Most importantly, stay safe!
2 жыл бұрын
I’m so glad the documentary asked what I consider to be the most important question here: Why do they seek those experiences in the first place? Arguing on wether drugs should be legal is missing the point, which is not about whether you consume them, but why you do it at all. That being said, I do believe it’s right to allow people to experience whatever they crave.
