I loved to dance like that in the gothic clubs! In Germany we had strickt rules on the dancefloor though: Nobody was allowed to touch or shove anybody else while dancing...and do not look or stare into somebodies elses eyes. Very cool it got when they started playing some popular indi "trigger" songs, than all came to the dancefloor and danced the exact same dance, similar to a flashmob in these days now, it was so cool!!!! Love these memories!

1984, I was living in a squat in Kings Cross London. We would head out to The Bat Cave in Soho or Gossips or the KitKat club in Westborne Grove. I would wear a black wedding dress & always had red lipstick & black back combed hair. They were the days of freedom of expression & individuality, music was amazing in clubs then and the gigs around London were epic. I saw The Banshees, The Damned, The Cult, The Ruts & many more. Went on to buy a house in London and have four children, my eldest son loves the music from the 80's and cannot quite believe what we used to get up to back then. I still blare out Spirit Walker in my car whilst driving around the country lanes of Suffolk England.

In my humble opinion, the best "goth" music was released during the very early eighties. Albums such as In The Flat Field, Theatre of Pain, Juju, Pornography, Prayers on Fire, etc had a strong influence on me.And yes folks use to dance like this even in the US. The goth/punk bars and clubs created spaces where you can connect with like minded people who had similar taste in music, fashion, and lifestyle. Was an exciting era to grow up in

My parents always rave about how the fun the 80s were. They used to go clubbing and dancing and talk how safe it was back then. I wish I could go with my SO but It doesn’t feel safe clubbing anymore. My parents agree it’s not the same and it makes them sad. I hope things can change so maybe my kids can enjoy without fear of being shot up.

I love it when the camera man zooms out all you see is a bunch of spawning humans like corpses trying to re animate themselves. But when zoomed in you see the individual, though the movements seem complete chaotic they’re on beat they’re on purpose they really feeling.

I came from the Punk scene into Goth. At the time of this video, Punk had imploded here in London, and out of that came the Goth scene and the New Romantics. You can see both influences here, before they split completely.

Incredible to think, that these kids are just dancing having fun, had no idea that they would be filmed, added years later to a platform that did not exist on a media that barely existed. Would stay there for years again, only to be watched by an actress and then their moves become instantly popular. Funny how things work

Goth is highly misunderstood, it’s more than just a look or a type of music… it’s a a way of life, a way of being. Most people fail to grasp this, because like most timesless music, it has gone underground. Where all really good music lives, that most people will never even discover or appreciate.
@sinspade2677
Жыл бұрын
@kyfaydfsoab really… maybe that’s what it means for you. There are music scenes underground all over the world. Maybe you need to go explore, I’ve discovered new music everywhere I’ve traveled. Especially in Chicago where I live there’s a huge music element that most people never experience. The shit that plays on the radio is the crap the industry promotes to entertain the masses who are mostly clueless about good music.
