After the game, Svidler said he had prepared for the Rubinstein so was out of his official prep by move 4.

That's not believable... Every GM knows the classical line ND Qb6 line in particular.

Thanks for the analysis. You should create a "Split Rooks Shirt" :-) Joking aside, this is a really good principle one should always bare in mind.

When I play my games and I have to split my rooks, I always think about this "Split Rooks"

Don’t forget that isolated pawns are often not good. They are split from supporting other pawns, and easily hunted down by hungry enemy pieces seeking them out. My mom taught me this, a strategy she called split p snoop.

Okay the rooks are split but that usually does happen when the king is trapped in the center! So he could just as well have named the video - Danger, uncastled king!

I am only a 2300 but I have bb4 rb3! in my files and i think white has an advantage. I don' t know if Meier think black has the equality. If I remember well it is interesting if black plays a6 instead of exf5 then fxe6 should be nearly winning. Hours of analysis

Watch more of his games not merely the highlight games. The French makes for some explosive cautionary tales but Meier is fairly solid.
