People need to read The Constitution a couple of times to be at the very least familiar with what it says. That's how our country ended up in the position we're in now - people don't know our rights, what The Constitution says, and how a Democratic Republic is supposed to work. Well done Bruce. In a world of OHS and Risk Management, it's widely known that Modellers are inherently some of the best practising risk managers you can find and, have been so for decades before Risk Management was even a thing. The core philosophy's in the way in which we build, balance, test and use our models and sundry charging and control or support gear, is all about redundancy, over engineering, using better components and acting in a safe manner, first and foremost. Yes things can happen, but it would be fare to say and is certainly axiomatic and quite obvious) we Risk manage better that many drivers on the road do everytime they drive. And that certainly says something! Keep up the gr8 work, and enjoy. Be well Paul.

I built a Brolga with my father when I was 10. I used to carry it down the local park every afternoon and every weekend. Flew it for hours upon hours, until the sunlight was almost gone. Old people, young people, middle people, strange people, great people, they'd all come over for a look and a chat and the Brolga (2,000mm wing span) never failed to put a smile on people's faces. Never had an accident, never hurt anyone or damaged any property, and no one ever told the little 10 year old with a glider twice his size to, "stop flying that, it's dangerous". The world we live in today is just getting ridiculous, it actually makes me angry. I'm a veteran and would like to think I fought for the next generation to enjoy the freedoms I loved as a kid, but no, they've ruined all of that. What I'd do for 10 minutes in a locked room with some of these politicians that make the rules that are ruining the simple pleasures in life. I get that some people are irresponsible, and we need to protect the public from them, but the government introduced rules that prevented doing so. You see, in the "old days", when someone was acting the clown, they'd get a good and proper ass kicking. But that's not allowed any more either!

In the USA, a town can require permits or ban drones entirely, but because only the federal government can regulate airspace, the local laws can only apply to takeoff and landing. If I go to a park where drones are banned, I can legally go across the street, launch my drone, then fly it over the park and I can even walk into the park grounds holding my controller and there's nothing the local town can do about that, although they can still arrest for the sake of harassing me since the charges won't hold up in court.

Which hasn't been hard to do ( i had to i do live near a small airfield so in that case its understandable), but its the factor that ticks me off. All because a few things happened with them so we have all these rules now. The Tokoroa Council are very obviously have an unfounded hatred towards model aircraft and real aircraft users at the local airstrip. It reminds me of CB radio in the 70's I was in Australia where CB was illegal and New Zealand had their 26mhz CB band so a huge number or Australians developed NZ call signs, I used to be Wellington 768 and chatted away anytime skip was open to NZ. The aus PMG tried to stop imports so we converted old Pye taxi radios from 75 mhz to 27 by trippling all the coils and fresh Xtals. Across Australia there are an increasing number of unregistered aircraft, airplanes, helicopters and gyroplanes whose owners just dont bother complying with the regs and do their own thing. Why, because the Authorities abuse their power, have dishonest and corrupt selfish motivations that serve only their own burocratic goals that use public safety as a subterfuge for their own corrupt enterprises. Community safety is for the community by the community and rogue councils like the Tokoroa are destroying their own credibility and displaying an unbelievable level of contempt that makes them an international embarassment. The destruction of the Air Traffic control Tower and shutting down the model airfield are two examples of their corrupt actions that make them an international embarrasment to New Zealand. Lets hope Bruce runs for Mayor but that would probably force him to be with the worst of NZ society.

I'd have to think with no motor they would think it doesn't apply, but who knows. I agree with you about the requirements for spotter - the rules make no actual sense. An honest review of the safety of the flight IS the most important thing.

It is amazing that local governments across the world are much the same. Here in the US, pettiness is the rule of the day. We have scads of personal preferences being administered out to the peasants of smallvilles. Give a man or woman a tad of personal power, and their whelms become codified. My town, too, doesn't like pesky robo mosquitoes drilling through the airspace of Who's town USA. And, too, pesky teens and their homemade motor bicycles are in league with the witches and goblins. Idiots rule, same most everywhere...

I think it classifies as unpowered flight. It's the same as throwing a baseball or something. It's not considered a uav even...you can fly that anywhere, that's why it's not mentioned, it's unregulated completely.

Yes, it's considered a UAV/RPAS/UAS by CAA and the SWDC says that "drones" are whatever the CAA defines them as. So long as it's remotely piloted it's a drone.

Just about to get into RC planes with my Son, so wading into the world through KZitem first. First time watching your channel, and it's refreshing to hear your rant, being an outsider looking in, I was expecting the opposite. Appreciate you, well said.

Someone on your regulation council will see this video than they will change the rules stating you need to wear safety glasses and a hard hat! 🤦🏼♂️ After all you could poke your eye out with that pointed plane and/or you could give yourself a concussion should the plane hit your head.😉 Isn’t it amazing to think of all (the now dangerous things) we did as children and how we still survive to old age! 🤪 For example: drinking out of a garden hose, sliding down a hot metal slide landing on a hard gravel play area, playing with sharp pointed lawn darts, playing with a chemistry sets that actually include Radioactive material, etc. 👴🏻

Oh no, my rule-breaking will be overt. You see, if I don't break rules overtly then there will be no proof that you can be safe without being slavishly compliant. That is why I aplaud all those who have posted videos to KZitem showing perfectly safe FPV flying without a spotter/observer. Without those videos we would have a much weaker case to claim that a spotter is not *always* necessary to ensure safety.

Agreed 💯👍 So much wasteful time & effort for such little 0% gain ? So we just find other locations to use for practice and enjoyment and even better than any park.... Keep Fly'n ‼️👍

I love flying my DLGs as well, and as far as I know my 1.5M one does not comply with the rules, luckily I live in a remote area where there is no one to bother. There is no need to comply to rules that make no sense as long as it is safe.

These days I'm finding less members of the public concerned about safety and more of them concerned that I'm spying on them.

Do they realize that if they throw you in jail, they will have to provide and be responsible for all your medical expenses. I still think the bi-wing kite that looks like an old biplane would have them scrambling as to what kind of rule can theywrite for that !!!

I'd say technically your DLG IS electric powered. you have to plug a battery in to fly it and there are electric motors in the servos.
