That river entrance looked scary. It's crazy to think that the pirate ships would go into and out of that river under sail alone. I think maybe you should get get the fuel scrubbed and clean any debris out of the tank.

It was hectic mate. We probably should have waited for a calmer day. Couldn’t imagine having no charts and sailing into it. We are on the case for a fuel treatment. 🤟

Thankfully your motor didn't quit coming into that inlet... is that the diesel bug???
@SailingZephyr

I’m not sure if it’s diesel bug or a collection of bad matter from some bad fuel we got.

Met you guys at the show and now was looking through your list of videos and found out you bought the boat in the Caribbean and then sailed to Europe and now back to the Caribbean. Wow, I have a lot to watch, specially the crossing the Atlantic. I have been debating if I should buy in Europe or USA, easier here for me but then I would have to cross over because I do want to sail the Med.

Amazing. Yes we have sailed a lot of miles in a short while. The passage to Europe is actually pretty fun if you go during the right months. If you ever want to talk about the passage after watching our crossing video, drop us an email. Always love chatting about passages. Thanks again for watching.

I was hoping to hear the sound of the forest while at anchor in the river. I'll bet it was a cacophony at night.

That gunk is a concern. I wonder if diesel conditioner would dissolve it into the fuel to pass through the gauze...

Hi guys. You are dead right. That is fuel starvation. That black gunk on the intake screen is not good. Either you picked up diesel from a bowser that was contaminated with some other sort of heavy fuel, or it could be diesel bug. Diesel conditioner will not solve the problem. Think about it. If you manage to dissolve that gunk, it will only clog your fuel filters. Best you access the tanks and clean them out and then add a diesel biocide when refilling. Always try to keep your tanks as full as you can at all times (obviously not when you are doing an ocean passage) because especially in the tropics, condensation forms on the inside of part empty tanks and the diesel bug lives off the water in the fuel. More fuel... less condensation. Good luck with this. It can be a bitch of a problem but you MUST clean the inside of your tanks. Just another observation. That pick up screen is pathetically small in surface area and very easy and quick to clog. Get a more butch screen with a much larger surface area. Size is definitely better in this situation. LOL. Oh also... when refuelling in a foreign port, always use a funnel with a fine gauze screen. That will collect any water and other larger contaminates which will prevent the water and other rubbish getting into the tanks. Because I can't post a website to your site, please check out diesel-debug.com It really does work. I had massive problems in my 50 footer with a Gardner 6LX and 3000 litres of fuel. Absolutely no issues after cleaning out my tanks and buying one of these. Check out the testimonials. However, after reading the testimonials, it seems that so long as you can drain the sludge out of the tanks, you wont need to clean them internally. I hope this helps. I can't see an email addy for you but if you want to contact me for further info please email me at legacymarine@gmail.com I'm more than willing to help you guys out. Cheers.
