Love getting the thumb involved on the fretboard 👍🏻

@@generalawareness101 why not try 3/4 guitars or smaller? More than long fingers it’s often the flexibility that some have in their fingers as well.

@@robbiepeterh That is width we are talking about length. For instance I gave myself CTS, and I hurt my hand to the point I have arthritic pain 24x7 (better now that I haven't touched the guitar in over a month but still only back to 80%) because my short hand I was doing bad things with my wrist/thumb joint to compensate due to trying to reach low E. A normal hand sized player would have no issues while I was muting the high strings just to reach the upper low strings due to the lack of length of palm, and fingers. It really does matter.

@@generalawareness101 3/4 guitars are shorter in length as well
@generalawareness101

@@robbiepeterh Length isn't the issue...yet as those are chords a long time to come. It is as I said lack of length of the fingers and palm means to reach the upper you mute the lower since you don't have the length to curve over them as a normal length hand does. 3/4 is a toy and might as well be a Uke, so I chose a Squire Bullet Mustang 24in which is right in the middle of a standard 22.75 and 25.5. Doesn't help with the muting due to a lack of length issue though.

Thank you for making the angle like this so that we could see it better when we try to play it.
The path is the overdrive channel, low gain (something between 2 or 5), then high volume It's what Froosh did too. Works well with a Fender or Marshall amp.

@@Nyarlathotep02 Yes, i love it. Low gain overdrive just has something in the sound. Doesn’t get better imo.

Lyrics for those intrested: -------------------------------------- Getting born in the state of Mississippi Papa was a copper, and her mama was a hippy In Alabama she would swing a hammer Price you got to pay when you break the panorama She never knew that there was anything more than poor What in the world does your company take me for? Black bandanna, sweet Louisiana Robbing on a bank in the state of Indiana She's a runner Rebel, and a stunner On her merry way saying baby, watcha gonna? Looking down the barrel of a hot metal forty-five Just another way to survive California, rest in peace Simultaneous release California, show your teeth She's my priestess I'm your priest Yeah, yeah, yeah She's a lover, baby, and a fighter Should've seen it coming when I got a little brighter With a name like Dani California Day was gonna come when I was gonna mourn ya A little loaded, she was stealing another breath I love my baby to death California, rest in peace Simultaneous release California, show your teeth She's my priestess I'm your priest Yeah, yeah, yeah Who knew the other side of you? Who knew that others died to prove? Too true to say goodbye to you Too true to say, say, say Pushed the fader, gifted animator One for the now, and eleven for the later Never made it up to Minnesota North Dakota man Wasn't gunnin' for the quota Down in the Badlands she was saving the best for last It only hurts when I laugh Gone too fast California, rest in peace Simultaneous release California, show your teeth She's my priestess I'm your priest Yeah, yeah, yeah California, rest in peace Simultaneous release California, show your teeth She's my priestess I'm your priest Yeah, yeah, yeah
while I don't understand where the need is to use the thumb to fret the E-string. Yeah I know it's a legit technique that can be useful but he has enough spare fingers that he could use those. He even mutes the E-String with those fingers sometimes.

@@foobarfuubar2295 It frees up your fingers to do the hammer-ons and pull-offs starting at 0:11. You could probably do them with a barre chord shape but it would feel unnatural and probably sound different. Muting of the high E-string is intended. That said, the thumb technique may be hard to do on a high radius fretboard like a shred guitar, works well with strats though.
