DC is a great fighter, but its a bit of revisionist history to claim he dominated those divisions. He left after Strikeforce, was the clear #2 at LHW (simply unlucky to be active at the same time as Jones) and then became HW champ but lost the trilogy with Stipe so was clear #2 at HW. I consider Stipe the HW GOAT but a lot of people prefer Cain so if you subscribe to that, DC is 3rd, potentially even 4th considering how many legends Werdum beat.

I don't understand why people doubt "short" people, as if men between 5'5 and 5'9 have not been given the crown for having the best warriors throughout all of recorded history. King David, Achilles, Alexander The Great and many who followed him were even better warriors than him. People seem to forget things fast. I could go all day with a list of men who were "short" and dominated in literal warfare and single combat both. Myamoto Musashi. Nervii tribal champions. Sacred Band of Thebes. Sacred Band of Carthage. Spartans. The problem is a combination of people having big egos and not understanding what violence really is. Also, the Gallic tribes of modern day France, and just many different tribal groups were generally feared warriors and were taller and sturdier than Greeks and Romans, but they seem to have lost more battles than they have won during those times against both the Greeks and the Romans/Etruscans/Italian tribes. Size does not matter anywhere near as much as skill and experience. When you combine skill and experience together, it will defeat sheer strength in numbers or size almost every single time when it comes to warfare and violence. And these are times when shield, spear, sword, and axe were the weapons of choice, up close and personal.

It all came down to that 2nd round. DC won round 1 and was winning round 2 soundly. Stipe pushed and dropped him with a flurry, stole that round away. DC was still rocked in r3 stipe won it easily and the 'eye poke' which hey, shit happens. DC somehow came out and won round 4. Then Stipe clinched it with round 5. All came down to the last 30 seconds of that 2nd round, it was the deciding factor. Great fight.
