So Stockfish is saying b4 because Qe8+ actually doesn't mate, Qc8 defends and white simplifies into a better endgame. Given that Stockfish only checks how winning a position is, rather than its complexity, presumably it thought that b4 was at least as valuable a step towards winning as trading queens. On my end, Qe8+ ends up being the best move anyways.

The engine was still very correct for b4 at the pause the video moment 8:26 because the mating sequence after sacrificing the queen with check on e8+, the black queen could go back to c8 to block the check and then there would be a trade off. But white will still win because of the extra bishop. My point is that it wasn’t really a forced mating sequence and that’s why the engine liked b4.

It's silly by black to not play qc8 and try to hold on to the game at the end, white has 4 seconds on the clock, it's always possible to blunder something in a time scramble, and it's not really an easy win if you trade queens, you have no passers and back has the d pawn
