Forgive my ignorance- only just discovered your playing and amazing talent. I’m not a player of the Uileann pipes by any means, but in my humble opinion, I don’t think I’ve heard anyone so finely dialed into this instrument other than Davey Spillane. You’ve totally nailed the nuances that illicit a soul out of this instrument. Good for you! ❤

I tried to turn on Notifications for this channel, but my computer said "This action is turned off for content made for kids". I don't get it. I think most of us "kids" watching this channel are big enough to be able to handle Notifications. :-)

thats impressive range for a free reed; is there some kind of way to make it overblow more stable?
@patrickcannady2066
4 ай бұрын
It’s not a free reed. It’s a windcapped double reed. All bagpipe chanters (and drones, too) are windcapped reeds of either the single or double type, depending on which of the 80 + species of bagpipes still played throughout Europe, the Mediterranean, and Western Asia we’re talking about.

No. That would appear to be a set in D, and I think it was likely made by Cillian O’Briain.

Uilleann pipes are bellows-blown. The piper pumps the bellows with one arm and presses the bag with opposite arm to drive the pipes. It’s the first thing most people notice about the instrument, but it’s not unique to uilleann pipes.
