Appalacian folk song that has had different words but originated in the 1800s. Murder ballads originated i nthe 1500s and 1600s thanks to people like Shakespeare but this song doesn't go that far back. Most likely this is two old folk songs made into a single hybrid.

Fun fact, this song represents a grieving lover trying to get over a love ones death. The pines representing death. And sleeping in them represents she could have possibly been dead for a long time Some songs talk about a train, referring to a train where a mayor or maybe governor or something used to send criminald got manual labor in the cold mines. And a head being found at the driving wheel. This is also commonly believed to represent death. The true meaning of this song has probably been long forgotten over the hundreds of years it has exsisted Edit: I explained it badly but there's a lot to this song like, 200 different variation so it's hard to keep track

it's a dark and raw song about domestic violence and abuse. he's sure she was sleeping with another man, meanwhile she was shivering her ass off all night in the freezing woods because she wanted to get away from him. Blues was like rap used to be, it spoke about the issues of the day and pulled no punches. Even Lord Bung using it in his creepy but brilliant SCP Confinement cartoon doesn't make it any darker or scarier, many would rather face monsters, conspiracies anomalies and interdimentional horrors than the nightmare waiting for them at home.

I believe the singer doesn't fear he's betrayed...either he killed her husband, or she did, and he's hiding in the woods because he thinks she's a murderer. This version is missing the 2nd verse, sung by Lead Belly in the 40's. The 2nd verse is: In the pines, in the pines Where the sun don't ever shine I would shiver the whole night through Her husband, was a hard working man Just about a mile from here His head was found in a driving wheel But his body never was found My girl, my girl, don't lie to me Tell me where did you sleep last night In the pines, in the pines Where the sun don't ever shine I would shiver the whole night through My girl, my girl, where will you go I'm going where the cold wind blows

This is one of the absolute greatest versions of this song I’ve ever heard. And I’ve heard a lot. It both shifts and retains the original feeling of the music. Makes me see visions of a poor wayward girl at a crossroads, scared, cold, trying to steel herself before that demon she just called up comes to give her what she most desires in exchange for her eternal soul. This perfect girl, never done any wrong in her whole life then becomes the absolute opposite of who she used to be, a cold vixen of a woman now, she chews people up and spits em out like nothing.

I’ve listened to three covers of this song including this one, and It’s amazing how the meaning of the lyrics can seem to change by just changing the genre of music. Listening to this version alone makes me think of a possibly abusive father interrogating his daughter. It sends chills down my back and makes for a great horror atmosphere.

You poor poor soul. Lord bung is off of KZitem forever all there is are reuplaoded videos of his work. Anyways long story short a few months ago person called Orion’s was accusing a content creator known as Kwite of some serious allegations and Lord bung sided with Orion. New evidence came up that proved kwite was right and Orion and Lord Bung ran away from the internet to be never heard from again. With the proof of Orion lying coming out in the public Lord Bung decided to do a Hail Mary and uploaded the anticipated episode 8. The results were a five minute sequence of semi soft core porn action involving dicks, butts, hands, machines and showers. Unfortunately a great content creator, writer, animator, and much else left the internet in a very tragic way.
