Harry talks with the great and highly influential psychologist Danny Kahneman, who won the Nobel Prize for his groundbreaking work on irrationality and the deep flaws in human decision-making. Along with two co-authors, Kahneman has recently published a work on a whole new source of irrationality, namely the “noise” that results from variability in a wide range of judgements that we wrongly consider to be objective. Kahneman considers noise to be as significant if not more a source of flawed judgments as bias, the source of his previous works including “Thinking Fast and Slow.” In this wide-ranging discussion, Harry and he discuss the concept, its origins, ways to reduce noise.
