All the more reason to run front/rear lights at all times and not ride in all black. Every bit helps you avoid being road kill. Been riding daily on open roads for nearly two decades now in three different cities. You can get nice, race-fit gear in bright colors these days, plus lights that fit on any frame. With a wife and kids at this point, I'll do all I can do avoid being run over by a distracted motorist.' I'll check back on these two in twenty years and see what they're up to...

@@mathewlynch1513 Yep, great point! I commute to my office 5 days a week, partially on an MUP. During covid have noticed a serious spike in new roadies (been riding this trail for years, so I know most people on bikes at this point) and quite a few of them use it as if it's a dedicated cycling track. It ain't. If you want to train, ride on the road. You can't expect to go full-tilt on a shared pathway, nor should you. That said, everyone on it should be cognizant of other uses. I'm looking at you, folks with extendable dog leashes. I'm looking at you, runners doing intervals and abruptly stopping and doing a 180.

I am impressed by the speed and the fact that the cameraman could keep up. In the past, I've ridden on pch doing centuries, and never had anyone this fast pass me. Amazing. What I didn't like was seeing him blow through stop signs, I've never done that. I make an effort to almost come to a complete stop, so I don't tip over, but never just blow through. He was going to go through the red light and saw the cop on the left side. Good idea not to run them. But I do wish I had the legs.
