Excellent instructionals on the Darce choke. Forced to pick a favourite, I reckon the reaction to an attempted pass is just beautiful. We all hope to control fights & to frustrate attacks by smothering passes etc. at their earliest stages but nothing breaks a heart quite like a reactionary attack when an opponent thinks they've took the advantage. We know that because it sucks like a brand new Dyson when it happens to us. Loving this one! ;)

I'm a tall guy, long arms so I love the darce! Your video was very illuminating, helping see darce chokes everywhere. I watched this video about a dozen times, caught a quick darce tonight from a toreando pass attempt. Felt super natural, thanks Coach! Do you sell Team South rashguards on your site? Would like to get one and show some support for everything you are doing for the BJJ community.

I’ve also found the d’arce tons of times when people try to get out of side control and they use an underhook, they basically give you the d’arce. Loved the side control setup you had, I will absolutely use that the next time I roll

Professor Tom amazing videos I've watched all your darce videos and today at open mat I managed to apply it just having seen your videos in sparring it was a fantastic feeling to know I sunk it down sweet it squeezed both guys with ease. I'm still a white belt so we weren't taught how to do it but no one expected it from me and worked very effectively. Thanks again Professor Tom regards brand new white belt John.

Is there a way to do a darce choke easier with gi? Most of the videos I see are with no gi
@ivanprivalikhin5916
5 жыл бұрын
This is a joke, it's soooo good compared to the other vids, just curios; the reason you roll after securing the choke is to posture so you apply more pressure or more to expose the opponents neck so it's more tighter?
@TheGrapplingAcademy

get to lount to add pressure. Rolling just puts them in position. (-: Professor Tom Davey

Hey Tom - hows thing? Mate just started training no gi and just wanted your opinion on what you would consider a hierarchy of submissions without the gi? Attacking the feet is probably high on the list but what upper body options do you like personally? Thanks
@TheGrapplingAcademy
6 жыл бұрын
Leaving feet out of it as their place in your arsenal can depend on rank, school, etc, The main nogi attacks include guillotine,, RNC, armbar, Americana, ALL head and arm style chokes including kata gatame/triangles/darces/anacondas, etc) and wrist locks too if we are going to leave neck and spine cranks out. They are the main ones and most guys specialise in just a few of them. Happy nogi rolling (-: Coach Tom Davey

Hi Tom - love this variety of darce set ups!! One of my fav chokes. The set up from 3.10 when you turn and run your body over his head around to the other side I imagine its critical to use your hip to keep his arm trapped on the inside otherwise there is no darce? Sorry if this seems like a dumb question just want to perfect this one ;-)
@TheGrapplingAcademy
6 жыл бұрын
Yes Ryan, your hip is what rolls their arm and shoulder over for the D'arce. If they don't want to roll you can simply hit the north south choke that was uploaded recently. (-: Coach Tom Davey

Problems I see here. 1. This turtle, here shown in this video is very bad. Watch Trutle Seminar from Priit Mihkelson. This turtle does not allow a Dar'Ce Choke Set Up shown here. 2. A more likely set up as the shown guard pass would be a starting positon from knee on belly.
