Matt's issue is that he underestimates both Fisk's power AND compassion. He thinks Wilson sees Vanessa as a prized object and not someone he'd die for. Mentioning her name so casually, he clearly didn't realize how much she truly means to Fisk. In a way this beating is a wake up call that Murdock needs to up his game and realize that Fisk is his equal and not some petty lowlife thug.

Michael Mallory Only Fisk DID realize that Murdock was Daredevil. In the scene at the end of this episode he touches his hurt lip and asks to re-examine Matt's files. Okay, this guy really does this character justice. He is so good I wouldn't be surprised if they made him a main antagonist in the next spider man film. Kingpin not only has a bone to pick with Daredevil, Spider Man also has a tendency of fucking up his shit as well. So imagine this scene, except it's Spider Man tied to a chair with his mask off. I mean think about that, like it would make his threats all the more scarier because they now have a more younger spider man.
@theOnyFUFU

I don't think the worlds of the Marvel shows & movies are ever gonna merge like that. It would make the whole universe too confusing. Spiderman has plenty of his own villains that are really cool. I haven't read the Spidey comics but at least based on the 90s cartoons, he seems to be way in over his head when it comes to the Kingpin and understanding his schemes. At least Daredevil kind of knows/understands Fisk.

I think one of the problems with that is the relative power of characters in the MCU, MCU Fisk is much weaker and far more realistic than the comics version, whereas MCU Spider-Man is the same strength level as in the comics (roughly), and other's like Cap are way stronger. Would be no fun to see Fisk taken out instantly (even with Spidey holding back), would be the same with Dex or Matt, if someone like Spidey or even Cap entered the season 3 ending fight they would wipe the floor with the other 3 guys.

I'm in the minority, but I found it dissapointing. Daredevil spends too much time whining and moaning in a church basement instead of getting things done, and Kingpin mopes in a prison, becomes 'Kingpin' in like the 11th episode and goes back to prison a few episodes later, never to be seen again? What ever happened to Fisk exposing Daredevil's identity that the show hinted to a million times? Even season 3 hints that it's going to happen, but than it never does. All we get is a nebulous threat in the last fight (which was awful by the way and looked like a WWE match shot with the camera from CSI Miami) Fisk goes back to his old season 1 plan of just using the media to make people hate him...again? And why does everything feel so recycled? I swear Eric Olson must've lifted over half of the plot beats and scenes from season 1. That Karen Page episode was awful too. Yeah...not really getting the love for season 3.

This scene was a slight wakeup call to both Matt and the audience that Matt is still vulnerable in his normal life, too, and counting on his perceived disability to disarm people will not always work out for him. Fisk would gladly beat the shit out of a blind man just to make a point.

Each of the seasons are different but still amazing in their own rights, that we are proud to call Daredevil. There is no way Disney can have the same goals for Daredevil, but they NEED to show the character respect and include the violent, twisted edge, it is what makes this character what it is.

What I like most about this scene is everything the episode covers. Matt had just suffered an attack that hurt Foggy and he doesn't know if the person who did it was Frank Castle, but before looking for him he goes to confront Fisk because he suspects that he was the one who let him out and that's where this happens.

I like this because this scene shows Murdock's true character. Everything's going smoothly, little too smoothly, so Murdock as the Daredevil he is, wants to visit fisk to remind him he's in control not him just power checking him. He didn't really have to go see him at this time kingpin really wasn't gaining that much traction, Murdock went there specifically to say fuck you.
