This underground city is located in Cappadocia, Turkey. This underground city operated when the Byzantine Empire or East Rome, was inhabited to protect itself from Arab invasions. It is believed that the branching path has connecting passages to other underground cities.
Kaymakli consists of 8 underground levels, but only 4 of them can be visited by the public. The first floor is used as a stable, the second floor is a church, a tomb, and a house or residence. Meanwhile, the 3rd floor is used for the kitchen, a place for making wine and oil, as well as a room or warehouse.
