I love the way the gun is whipped forward when fired rather than being aimed constantly at the target. Maybe they thought the bullets needed a little more oomph.

These movies often feature a flock of beauty pageant winners as extras. Appearing in a Hollywood film must have been a prize. How disappointed these ladies must have been. BTW, please review Queen of Outer Space with Zsa Zsa Gabor as a alien scientist.

This review is fun to revisit. Partly because of Robin's line delivery, I like the way he says 'portly middle aged men' in particular. I was thinking about the bit at 1:03, what would have been the plan if there wasn't oxygen on the moon? Sci-fi in the 50s, everyone! You could bring cigarettes into space and you just took your helmet off to check for air!

In 'The Fifty Worst Films Of All Time' the Medved Bros. gave this an honorable mention, beginning with: "Sonny Tufts (the Professor) goes to the moon. Where, presumably, he'll have a hard time buying a drink." Poor Sonny Tufts..He was a leading man during the WW2 years but when all the real leading men returned home after the war, his career fell into the dumper. And Tufts fell into alcoholism.

The film that makes 1958's Missile to the Moon look good. I mean Sonny TUFTS??? But. be fair, that's Lamont Cranston himself (Victor Jory) as Kip, the gunslinger and Marie Windsor was not ONLY in Abbott and Costello Meet the Mummy (1955) but ALSO 1979's TV miniseries SLEM'S LOT (among many other roles). Heck, she even took care of J. D.'s (John Wayne's) kids in 1873's CAHILL, U.S. MARSHALL.

Looks like the best part of the movie was the title. That was common of B-films, come up with an enticing title first, then try to write a plot to fit it. Sometimes they spent more time on the first part than on the second part.

The 40's and 50's didn't have a lot of designer or artist who either didn't have much imagination , or weren't allowed by directors / producer to create something we would find alien , or sometimes the budget wouldn't allow it either. Things changed a lot when Frank Frazetta broke things up with his art on books and magazines ; until fantasy novel, covers had restricted to the Greek/ Roman look. When that spider was used in TARANTULA we saw it briefly and in shadow. The sad part is they used the model for movie posters.

This reminds me of a quote by the American critic Pauline Kael that I read in the Golden Turkey Awards book "It`s hard to be annoyed at a film like this, it appears to have been made by trolls" (Obviously that`s the old, pre-internet kind of trolls) These films are more like an anthropology study than films made by actual adult humans...Having said that I`d rather watch these lumps of tosh than anything by JJ Abrams.
