This is my Dark Fishing Spider (Dolomedes tenebrosus), and I found her the other day just beginning on an egg sac. These are sometimes referred to as the Dock Spider, as most Dolomedes species live close to water. But D. tenebrosus is an exception, and can often be found away from water and around human homes.
I was lucky enough to notice her doing this early on, and was able to record virtually the entire process of her building her eggsac, laying the eggs in it, and closing it up. This is a lucky look at this aspect of reproduction for these spiders.
For those who are curious, she is named "Donna" after the character in "Suits".
