i don't know why opeth gets all the credit. that chord progression and picking pattern is basically the outro fiff on the Ulver song called Ulvsblakk. That entire album is of this nature. it got me into acoustic guitar back in the day.

But it also reminds me a bit of Moonsorrow and Fen, which are REALLY worth checking out if you're into stuff like this. .. You can build off of this and do so much...once you grasp music theory a little bit.I can basically do the samething...but continue down to the iii chord ( Emin) At this point you can vamp it with Emaj and G# diminish as you ascend back into the A min.Which is just the chords from A harmonic minor....It sounds cool when you strum it...but finger picking it is another story....It's the B note being played twice...it dosnt sound good. Just change it to G4You can simply play the C note on the G string. Then simply play A, G, F, E on the D string. After you get used to it..you can add the lowe bass notes later using the lower E and A string.....Or you can apply the same concept...Play the top 3 strings open.Make the diads (2 note) chords starting at the 12 fret A string.Or you can add notes on the B string...In other words stack triad...The G chord will simply turn into E min...F into D minor..Inverted....Which puts you in I. IV , V chords in minor.because chord structure is simply EVERY OTHER NOTE.EGBD or DFAC

another great lesson using knowledge I already firmly know but applying it to a style of playing, great work Corey! I really appreciate your efforts in these videos, a lot of online guitar lessons fail to apply theory to how you would actually play it in a genre, you're vids always leave me with something fresh to play using what theory that is clear. My only request is that sometime you do a demonstration for the ending to the song A Bouquet of Blood for Skull from Leviathan, one of my favs
