Can we tell women not to wear short clothes or say wearing shorts is unethical?? If beauty pageants objectifying women but aren't women objectifying themselves and aren't men shamed for being misogynistic/patriarchal/sexist if he want his female family members to wear decent clothes?
@TeeAng
11 ай бұрын
@@ishanb.pradhan3800 the debate isn’t about decent clothes but the control over one gender to another. It runs deep in a society. We often jumped into conclusions and debate in a wrong way with wrong person in wrong platform. Feminism didn’t come because female r jealous of male gender freedom but male gender in general controlling women’s bodies and life for bare minimum. That is why ‘He for she’ movement hold male in greater position to showcase support for women in a society. It’s an idea to bring women safety without dominating or disrespecting another gender! After all we need each other to move forward. But toxic masculinity and toxic femininity divide that ideas and bring men vs women! It is against norm of nature! Anyway, decency doesn’t lie in clothes length, it lies in respecting others boundaries! If u don’t like what others do, that doesn’t justify your actions to harm or harass others.

How clearly you explained this topic, I am stunned! Thankyou to your efforts on how you give your best to bring out these topics in best way possible. Totally agreed to every statement you made. The highlights on the hypocrisy of these people who run around saying beauty has no boundaries but set the "beauty standards" capitalizing on woman's insecurity. I myself consider makeup, ramp walk and fashion shows as a form of art presentation but using women to bring out or unnormalize the complexity, body structure and various other things in my point of view is creating insecurities from a very small age in today's era. Once again I would like to thankyou for letting these many people know about the strategy of these companies from the direction most of us will never think from!

I was one of the participant of Miss Nepal and i used to think that this will help in developing my leadership capabilities but I was wrong. Everyday you are made insecure regarding your body and the way you look, you are judged by so called choreographers. Here, you cannot be yourself, you’re forced to be the one that they want you to be. This is a BUSINESS and you’re wasting your precious time here. At the end, I lost my confidence and felt like I was one of the back dancers in the finale show. You’re not respected here. These types of pageant are useless. Think twice before going to these kind of pageants. The only positive thing I got from the pageant was few of close and good friends who felt the same way I felt. Other than that, this is useless and waste of your time.

So do you think " Miss Nepal" must be completely band from Nepal or the organisation organising this pageant must be changed? Just curious to know what's ur thought in it... don't take it other way😊... cause I also think this THT Miss Nepal chooses some winners based on money rather than the capability of the contestants...And One of the winner this year was an example of this and so were some past winners and title holders

Apekshya I’ve always admired you for your intellect, hard work and beauty inside out. Your aura pulls people towards you. These unrealistic beauty standards has nothing to do with what an amazing intellect women you are. In a world full of people pulling each other’s leg for hiding their own insecurities, I’ve always seen you complementing people and being nice to everyone. I feel sad that a person like you had to feel insecure about herself. I look up-to you and I am very sure there are so many young ladies out there who follow you and look up to you. Thanks for speaking out loud. Lots of love ❤

Thank u so much for spreading this awareness🙏 I’ve even participated in MissTeen Nepal due to my elder sister’s wish while I was 18. But honestly speaking, these beauty contests only focus on beauty, catwalks, make up & looks. In prejudging round, I was wearing a pant & blazer. We’d to interview with each judges in separate rooms. One of the male judge out of 15 judges from that competition told me to pull my pant till knees so that he could see my legs & he told me that it was required procedure & I’d to do that. That time, I wasn’t aware that it was an assault as well as I was really neive & couldn’t say, NO. He even touched my legs. He didn’t do anything else but now I feel like that wasn’t required & it is kinda assault. I’d never thought that so deeply but yeah, these ladies in beauty contests could be assaulted easily. After that, I didn’t go to any competition & finished my masters. I ve more than 16 years job experience in financial sector. I’m settled down in abroad, make my own money, have my family & own property. I take my own decisions & live a happy life. I am fully empowered lady & I’m so glad that I didn’t destroy my like in such craps. Feel sorry for such talented ladies who end up their careers just by becoming a VJ, RJ, Host & work on some movies & struggling in their personal & professional lives. I thank God that I didn’t follow & be in Nepali media or film industry🙏 These beauty contests don’t teach much & give the title to the rich family’s gal who can maintain the standards after winning the crown. So, gals, educate yourself & be financially independent. That is real women empowerment ❤❤

Agree with every thing. One more thing I want to add - I know few of the participants and few of the winners personally. The dream they sell is impossible from the get go because only people with money and influence win such pageants in Nepal. Some are more upfront it but some like the Hidden Treasure who are still holding on to their "respectable" image, deny it vehemently. It's not just the right skintone, the right hair texture, height, it is also who you were born as, how much power and influence your family has, who they know, and the list is never ending.

This video was really informative and has increased my overall self awareness. What I found fascinating is that many of us are deeply unconscious about this fact of setting beauty standards and antagonising the authenticity of ourselves. We consider makeup as one of those fundamental tools to enhance our beauty. And for those who have accepted such tools it is totally fine but criticizing and so much so as to humiliate and judge those who are okay with their natural colour tone in public media is such a shameful task. It's such a disgrace. And reality shows like miss Nepal are materialising women and further more have and will continue on setting beauty standards higher and higher which have led to increased mental health issues in women. At last, the work of the IDs team should be shared on all social platforms.

Since my teenage I find the face without makeup more beautiful than that covered in cosmetics. I do encourage my friends that they are beautiful the way they are, and they don't need to customize their eyes, complexation, smile .... But they always feel it as humiliation and teasing. Beauty lies in heart, the way you treat people, the way you understand things and the way you accept the fact. You are here to like your life, to achieve something, not to impress anyone you are not surviving for others. So be yourself and never fell insecure the way you look you are always beautiful in the way you are......

yes, most things that you said are true but I feel like all of these insecurities are caused by mainstream media, magazines, and actresses. idk a single person who has really started wearing make up because they saw a girl in a pageant wearing makeup💀. yes, beauty pageants promote women to look a certain way and act a certain way, and sexualize women. But I don’t think the main goal of beauty pageants is to sell product, there is a way bigger marketing scheme in selling makeup and skincare. influencer is nowadays really hold the power. I don’t even know anyone who actually actively watches beauty pageants, it’s the same every year. good points but not all of them regard beauty pageants specifically.

All the dark side of beauty pageants was already known to many youths since the advent of Internet in Nepal. They still participated in it because they knew in some way it will help them boost their career. Many models, artist, entrepreneur and social activists exist but they are not as much well known as their Miss Nepal counterparts. So, these beauty pageants did help them. this is my opinion, but i have always felt that these events help promote confidence in the young generation. They give inspiration to many that even they can be as confident as as successful as the women they see as idol. So, you cannot say that the winners didn't get any benefit. The biggest winners are the beauty products selling companies the runner up are the winners and all those who didn't get any title have lost their time.

Good one focusing on a "huge social issue". It did cover a broad spectrum of issues. But as shown towards the end of video where it speaks about "objectifying small children based on beauty standards and its impact on those kids", being an early childhood educator I want to clarify that, in preschools the ramp walk targeting small kids are either cultural dress display, creativity displaying ideas (dress made from waste), walking with parents etc, and not for "objectifying small children on the basis of beauty standards". Here I am talking particularly about under 8 years children.

@5:01 the female judge's feedback to the young woman auditioning for Miss Nepal; calling it a "disrespect" to have shown up for an audition without wearing a makeup may have been honest; as it is indeed a beauty pageant and people would be expected to know how to put a make up on. However, honesty without kindness is callousness. The delivery of that feedback was crude and could have been done in a way that is kind and containing. It is something for beauty pageant organisers to think about and reflect on.

Regarding your questions some recent movements of exclusivity in Beauty contests, Victoria Secret Fashion show are just a cover of long world wide protest for objectifying women's body. This is not first time people has protested against this. and the cons of these contests are even worse than mentioned in this video such as using winners for political reason between countries etc.etc. We just need to do some researches of beauty pageant winners (such as Miss Universe, Miss Worlds etc),read their interviews, biographies and be more analytical However these contests have helped many participants to grow in personal level who have interest in modeling industry

I feel like any beauty pageant shows which features minors and teens under 18 should be banned. Also, penalise those beauty products that shows their ads on that way which makes people feel insecure (like women transitioning from dark skin to light skin) and government should make strict regulations on beauty products by consulting with dermatologists.

The hypocrisy of Samriddhi Rai, regretting about joining Miss Nepal and wasting her youth but continued to join pageants like Miss Tourism International, Miss Tourism Asia , Miss Press Princess, Miss World University just to REGRET MORE probably.

I was excited about the topic and watched it for 5 mins. First, they showed Atlantic city, NJ in Canada. They just not got the city wrong, not just the state wrong, but the entire freaking country. Second the wording "sasakiya soch, and pujibadi manasikta" was not something I was NOT able to ignore. This shows the attitude of the person who wrote the script. For a marxist, any thing that is competition and not done by the "state" is wrong. So if you like to listen to communist/ "raiti" mentality garbage, then please go ahead enjoy this nonsense. Even thought I think that Miss Nepal competition is glorified more than it should, garbage like this is also not good for the country. If you like pagentry, if you think it helps you in life and society, go compete, if you don't, then don't go. It is as simple like that. If you don't like this competition, the best way to retort is to create another competition or another platform. Asking people not to do stuff, when you don't do shit, does not lead to a successfully society. Unsubscribed.
