Thank you. I think if anybody is willing to take what I've done with various DSA models as objective is that DSA really niche-d out a price point all for themselves. And I think that has confounded a lot of folks. They see these designs and go WOW ... oh wait ... there are some flaws to corners cut here and there. Which is all true. But ... overall yes I think they are good swords that have a wonderful look and feel and have a reasonable degree of functionality.

Which European models / makers do you compare DSA with?

@@mr.excalibur1455 darksword has been caught lying about the quality and type of steel they use, and where they actually manufacture their swords. They're generally way over priced considering that, and the fact that their quality is about the same as hanwei, except they charge even more usually

@@mr.excalibur1455 to answer your question better, regenyei, and del tin both have swords in the same price point but they're actually worth the price. Unlike darksword which is mediocre but marketed deceptively and made to look better than they are actually are. Seriously even most hanwei blades are of better quality than darksword

@@gwynbleidd1917 I've heard and actually done quite a deep dive concerning the DSA rumors about their business practices and where their products are actually made. I've found the evidence that has been provided to be circumstantial at best ... viscous repeated internet at worst. On the other other hand ... I have bought now 10 of their models. I have kept 5 ... not because the other five were substandard ... just either stylistically or something that didn't quite fit in my limited collection. Overall I've found that the for the money at that price point I think DSA swords are pretty good. Their designs really dictate the quality of the handling of their models. I've found there are some that are very weighty ... yes. On the other hand I've found that designs especially like this one!! handle VERY well and were pretty well sharpened. I think they could do a lot better with their hilt furniture and how those are fitted. That IS something I think they could improve on. I would say the same thing goes with their sharpening. This sword, the Excalibur, and the Black Prince were really good examples of well done sharpening. However ... I've had others that were not sharpened well at all. So ... I think as an overall package they are a good deal. But that's been my experience.

@@mr.excalibur1455 okay. Sounds like you're a bit of a darksword fanboy but that's okay. I work with people who have been dealing with them as a company for a long time, some of them for over a decade, and trust their word, on top of looking into it myself. You can like what you like, but don't trick yourself into thinking that they're great quality for their prices. They're not. As I said, Regenyei is much better and actually generally a bit cheaper. Arms and armor is also wayy better for about the same price point. Actually there's quite a few swords that Albion makes in the same pricepoint as DSA, and Albion swords are infinitely better. If you like fantasy swords, cool. But A lot of these companies that put out good quality, well balanced swords, for the same price as Darksword, make theirs based off of museum pieces that they've quite often personally held. For the price point, DSA isn't great, they're mediocre. That's not to say that every sword they produce out of their workshop in india is bad, there is just tons of better swordmakers for roughly the same price point.
