The sky, the “grey” hue, the bare trees, and Ernie’s steady beat made for a rather eerie feel to the video….

I've always considered it shameful that the military are allowed to blow holes in what is one of the most beautiful, unusual, and iconic national parks on the planet. Of course that all started before Dartmoor became a national park but in this day and age I firmly believe the government should reconsider its use as a training area. I know they have to train somewhere but there are hundreds of remote areas in this country which are not listed in tourist guides as a place that must be visited. There have been many instances in the past where people and animals have fallen foul of ordnance left behind, albeit inadvertently, by the military. Reply

Ey up A crowd of us were camping on the edge of Exmoor recently and took a ride through Dartmoor. Sitting there having a brew and an ex-serviceman pal told me he completed some orienteering and survival training somewhere on the Moor. He couldn’t remember exactly where cos he got lost 😂😂

I always feel sorry for poor Ernie when I see you riding him along these mucky lanes, then I think of all the cleaning and polishing you need to do when you get him home. I suppose soldiers have got to play soldiers somewhere and given the range of some of their shells it makes sense to do it on a large open rugged expanse. They did a similar thing up North training the Commandos for WWII, sadly they seem to have used the trainees as human targets 😯😰😕😖😢 I hope Twinks is also getting out and about to make hay while the sun shines 🌞😊

I always feel bad subjecting Ernie to the messy lanes, but yes he does get spoilt afterwards. Yes there’s several stories of soldiers being killed in training exercises, sadly 😞 Twinks and haven’t had many opportunities to ride together this year, but hopefully that’ll change soon. Many thanks Mr Wolf, love to both 👍🏼

G’day Jeff, it’s always great watching you ride these beautiful roads over your way. This video reminded me of my days as a pilot, we had military training areas that had to be avoided when active, when active a thing called a NOTAM was issued. You had to find this document buried amongst a lot of other documents although some had a permanent avoidance area around them, back when I was flying. Flying over these areas at the wrong time would have ended in the same way as meeting the red baron 🫣🤣🤣. I hope everything is going great with you & twinks. Take care mate. Bah Bah & Hooroo 🏍👍😎
