Dartmoor after 30 years since my last visit was a true delight, made all the more enjoyable with the company of Dan, of Camp Life Bushcraft.
From Two Bridges, Dan and I paced up the easy trail to first look at Wistman’s Wood. This is a truly enchanted little woodland, with a very special atmosphere about it. On over Longaford Tor next, we peaked on Higher White Tor. We had time to push on before it was dark to Lower White Tor where we camped for the night.
I have my Hilleberg Akto out again, with a lightweight cooking set and my other regular gear.
Tomorrow will be another adventure, presented in a second video, where we explore Sandy Hole Pass and a couple of other Tors before we have a second night out in Dartmoor.

Taking care on the hills:
I’m not a pro, expert or any kind of leader on the mountains. I step out for fun and my own personal enjoyment. What I do is at my own risk. I do not suggest anyone does what I do, the way I do it, where I go or anything else in my videos. I’m always mindful of my own safety and doing what is right with respect to the environment and others on the hills. If you watch my videos, please enjoy them as they are and don’t necessarily assume they are examples of excellent practice. I’m learning along the way too.
As always, every fell-walker goes out on their route taking on responsibility for their own safety and wellbeing, accessing areas that are open to the public or asking for permission as necessary. I totally support the #LeaveNoTrace campaign and encourage everyone to follow that too. So, if you venture out, please respect the environment, be considerate to others along the route, stay safe, wear, carry and use the clothes and equipment that you need for your trek, have ample food and drink for the duration of your trek, navigate carefully and keep within the limitations of your fitness and abilities. Let others know where you plan to go and when you will return.
Stay Safe. Enjoy!
