My favourite opera voice is the greatest of tenors, Jussi Björling; oh how he moves my soul as no other of his stature. Yours may be the presence of a voice as true in colour and perfection, young Aksel Rykkvin. It has been so very long, of absence; the world needs such a voice again.

You say you've become a baritone. But your musical learning and the beautiful interpretations with which you have given us in this time, will accompany you and will also accompany us to those who have followed you from the earliest times. We have to thank you again for your dedication, your musical vocation and the hard work and hours you have dedicated to music. Also to thank your parents for the support they have given you and with whom they have accompanied you during these years. Thanks again. The work done has given you the experience and the sufficient musical base for this new stage. Keep going, working as you have done so far. We thank you. May our gratitude help you to continue working and realize yourself as a great musician. A great musical hug. Dices que has pasado a barítono.

Absolutely beautiful. I was surprised at your top notes near the beginning of the video. They were still nice and bright and clear. I thought you would not be singing that high by now. Your lower tones are just as beautiful. Have you been losing some of your top notes and adding lower ones? Baritone or tenor -- whatever you become will be great with the sensitivity to music and your interpretation of the piece. I love the rhythmic applause that is reserved for the very best performers and performances. Congratulations, Aksel. Always remember that your great talent is given to you by God.

Dear Aksel, of course Mahler must be a real paradise for you, he is a such very very special composer, there is no opera, no piano work, almost no chamber music, only a few huge symphonies and some songs, that's all. I got connected to his music, when I was 16! It was that gigantic Symphony No. 9, composed in 1909. And today I would say, he was the re-born Franz Schubert, 100 years later at the gate to the 20th century. Every single note he composed is SINGING. That's phenomenal and the most touching point to Schubert. Even in the pure symphonies without singers, the instruments sound in a way as if they sing or speak like human voices! Listen to the 1th movement of the Ninth, Andante Comodo (my KZitem-name :)), especially the quiter, exhausted, medidative moments in this mostly very loud movement: the groups and solo instruments are really singing, whispering, mourning, breathing, stuttering as if looking for the right words... In the case, you love all these song-like themes even in the piano sonates of Schubert, you will find the same "songs without text" in the symphonies of Mahler. Then you will completely fall in love to it. Even not to mention that unbelievable (very bitter) beauty espacially in the Ninth and even mor in the (unfinished) Tenth symphony. And you? And me? Waiting for your first time in Germany - the audience will lie at your feet, I swear! :))

I've just commented but appear to have lost it. I was a member of the choir throughout school and worshipped the six-former who performed this when we sang the Requiem. Later, as a member of an amateur choir in my thirties I was asked to sing the Pie Jesu. I was paralysed by nerves and chickened out, so I know whaht's involved in singing this wondrous piece. Your voice is also wondrous, and listening to several of your last performances I can hear great improvements between your 13 year-old voice and your 14 year-old voice and performance.. Shall much look forward to following your progess as an adult singer. Cardiff Singer of the World maybe?

Hallo Aksel never heard this piece of music by Mahler sing by a boys soprano. Your performance is unique and its a great moment listening to you. Your german pronunciation is quite perfect and good to understand. I hope so much for you the condition of your voice does still remain for quite a time. And after breaking I wish you in a immodest way your voice may turn into a deep Bass. Please forgive me saying that but the reason I mentioned it is that this was allways my dream after my own boys soprano voice changed. I wanted to become a Bass Singer. Unfortunately it was not given to me. Today I have no Bass- no Tenor-voice . Not even my Bariton voice is worth to be mentioned. Whatever, if you become a Tenor Solist will be for sure great. But for now lets wish your Boys soprano still remains quite a time. Er lässt uns das himmlische Leben fühlen wann immer wir dich hören. Axel alles Gute für Dich !

Such a disappointment not being able to hear the full performance. Aksel together with a Trio of TKC boys and possibly others has finally buried any excuse for busty sopranos to sing Das himmlische Leben. The three finest were all "A"s , Allan, Andreas and Aksel. One wonders why Cherubino is always female.

What a nuisance with the inconsiderate man who during the applause stands up covering the camera!

Yes, but I am sure he didn't know he was blocking the view :)
