Do people paint over wallpaper in the UK? Why not remove it - it isn't that hard?

Pulling wallpaper off walls in older houses can damage the plaster, although only slight it does not look good when painted. Also the UK is not hot like the USA and papered walls are warmer.

@@codysmom6071 I've been in the UK nigh ten years and Brits honestly, truly really believe their brick boxes of houses are "built to keep heat in, not keep it out." In reality the houses are made out of brick and built like brick ovens and function like them on a larger scale. It's something I've heard from multiple people and even a news article or two talking about the recent heatwaves. I mean, I thought Newton was British and that they would have a bettter grasp of insulations and heat conductivity (of which paper is not a very good insulator OR conductor), but there ya go. The temperature DOES actually get as hot as the state I'm from, but I've been far, far less comfortable with the inability to open windows (no screens to keep flies out, windows open outward not allowing any to be installed), no real air flow in the house (in fact houses seem to trap moisture and lend to mold problems), and an insufferable stuffiness when the brick heats up and *radiates into the house* during warm days. The worst is when it's mildly warm and humid, it feels like trying to breathe in soup, and I've lived in Ohio previously where it would get 90% humidity and rain hot rain in the summer so that's saying something. It's not even that good in winter to "keep the heat in" because it's still constantly cold and you have to have the heating on full blast and the houses are usually built directly into the ground (like there is bare earth underneath concrete in my house) so even if the air is warm, woe is you if you go on the ground floor with bare feet, not even the carpet really helps. All the heat gets sapped away into the ground and the brick walls so you can't really turn the heating off and expect it to last for a while. The brick doesn't radiate enough heat either to keep the house comfortable. AND, you can't even get a proper AC unit because of the shape/style of the windows, and all the heat is done by boiler/radiator which has a tendency to fail if something happens to the pipes. But yeah, there's wallapaper painted white in my house because someone turned it into a Sad Beige investment home and I haven't had the slightest clue how to change it as all my DIY skills were for my home country and they do not apply here because things are done so differently. Paint on wallpaper looks awful, you can see the seams. My cats shredded a part of the wall and the plaster underneath is this weird, pitted, holey stuff which doesn't make sense to me because I used to patch holes in walls with plaster that, once painted, couldn't tell there was ever a hole.

Don't think the home was the problem, well maybe the conservatory. If there was only one viewing it can't be the house. When people view a house surely you'd look at the condition and size. I'd love a home like that

On the market for one year and the agent only shows it once. That agent needs to be fired!
