I'm an American in a relationship with a German girl and I find this to be very accurate. Interesting thing is that I find the European dating mentality to be such a breath of fresh air. The game mentality is the number one frustrating aspect of dating American women. Especially the part where they withdraw or feign non-interest when in fact they are interested. My mentality, especially in the modern PC climate, is that if a girl withdraws, then I step back and end the pursuit. It's hard to know when the girl is wanting you to pursue or if she's about to call a restraining order on you. For me at least, dating the girl I'm with now has been so much of a relief from day one. Everything just moved organically and didn't have to be forced. I'm very happy with her :-).

Because we really mostly smile when there is a reason. You buy bread say thanks you and smile. If a random stranger smiles, out first thought is, why is he smiling? Do I know him? Does he want to ask me something? The positive aspects is that when we smile it's really because we like you. It makes us probably look very impolite and rude to you. America's mentalities definitely have an... unusual blend of scientific method, puritanism, and rationalism. "when a lady interprets my attempts to become more familiar as taking things too far, too quickly." Please explain further what that means, because you left out a few explains of how you are "become more familiar." Flirtatious advances are consider taking things too far, too quickly. Many of us U.S. women had enough with waste-of-timer men. Being flirty without it going anywhere equates to you are not being interested in marriage and are just wasting our time. We humans aren't immortal beings. This is rational organic. Organic means you understand that time is limited thus stop beating around the bush and get on with it or leave us alone. This is the best comment I've seen regarding this subject. Because my American ass is "what do you mean you don't have labels?" So if one party is only interested in something casual, while the other one is hoping for something serious, how will you discern that if you 'don't want to label it?' Here in the US, people not wanting to label their relationship is a recipe for disaster. But you make a good point about labels being a consequence of the mind games. It is a way for us to have a better understanding what is going on since we don't like being upfront.

Lol we *do* date here in Scandinavia 😂 We're just more casual about it. -- hang out (outside or at home), go get coffee or go to a café. Some even go to the movies. But it usually has no order in what you do on dates like the standart 1-3 base in America. Some go out, meet someone, hook up and hangs out the next day and then take it from there. Some asks someone to go out for a drink and sit somewhere to have a beer or other alcohol, where there's music but you can still sit casually and talk and then see where things go from there. Some asks you home for home cooked dinner (usually after a longer conversation of getting to know one another.) Some go out for dinner. And some actually asks "will you go out with me?" But as far as I know, then most people dont ask if they _want_ to go steady. It's more of a gut feeling and the fact that you're always together and then maybe the question comes "are we steady?" Haha. But dates is _actually_ a thing here and they do happen. Just maybe not in the sense that most Americans perceive it. 😉

In Europe basically there is really four different regions in terms of their dating culture. It is northern europe which includes scandinavia, the low countries, germany and austria, then there is southern europe which includes France, Spain, portugal, italy and greece and also is quiet a loose group seeing as there can be a lot of differences between these countries. They just have very unique cultures in this aspect. Then there is the British Isles which is totally different from the rest of Europe and there is the balkan region which includes hungary, the former yugoslavian countries, albania, romania and bulgaria. The last category is poland, czechia, slowakia, ukrain and russia. Here there are also quiet big differences per country. Saying that germany and italy loosely fall in the same category would be too big of a generalization.

I'm from Hungary. 1. That is true: we won't smile at every stranger, but sometimes we won't be really honest when asked how we are. 2. This one is totally true. (Really, if you go to the university or shop or wherever (except for certain workplaces) with as much makeup as in the tutorials, it is considered a bit ridiculous. 3. Well, I don't really know about this one. Maybe. I didn't notice it :D 4. It depends on the country. Here in Hungary for example, both situations can happen. Some of us also like labels. 5. Yeah, that is true. We don't really play games. Thank you for the video. It was very enjoyable :)

H Anita Whaaaat? As a fellow Hungarian, my experience is that if a Hungarian has a chance to complain he/she will for sure. Or if we don't want to share our actual feelings for some reason then we just reply "I am okay, thanks" with a cold facial expression. But we never pretend we are actually fine if we are not.

Oh, I totally agree, we do like to complain, and also we often take the "How are you?" question seriously and genuinely answer it (I know, we're weirdos :D ). In my comment I was referring to the "I'm okay" situation. But I guess, compared to America, it's not that big of a deal. P.S.: It's good to see Hungarians in the comments section. Bojler eladó :D

HunOrwell 1. Agreed 3. Strange, I have different experience, I hardly ever see women in high heels and fancy dresses in theaters for example, only in Madách színház but that's just basicly celebrities showing off. In my experience if you go out to party in a fancy dress and heels firts of all everyone will look at you cause no one else is dressed like that and you will be called a bitch probably. Once I made the mistake of wearing a not even fancy but a nice dress when partying and I was the black sheep so I have to say I don't agree with you. But then again maybe we visit very different kind of party places. 5. ?? What games? Who? Where? We do flirt, that's for sure but no games imo

LOL, being Russian I've always laughed at how it's so "official" in american movies with girlfriend-boyfriend relationships in school. I mean the whole school knows these two kids are dating and kinda "official" LOL. In Russia it's like nobody knows:) It's looks like it continues there deep into their adult life and they stricly follow and demand their "dating status schedule".
@andrewdennis0
7 жыл бұрын
elevenfifteen1115 we just like to celebrate relationships. it's an important milestone to find someone that you are committed to and allowing to become an important part of your life and we want to share that joy with others. I admit many do it to "show off" but I don't think there is anything wrong with letting people know your relationship is official just like I don't think there is anything wrong with the Russian method of keeping it private
@cromagnonac
7 жыл бұрын
Yea, my relationship is my (or rather our own) business, why would I celebrate that with a bunch of other people? I mean those close to us will know if it's serious or not because they'll ask and get an honest answer. And about the milestone, I don't buy that, I mean, how many people do you date in your life before finding the one? It seems silly to celebrate something that has a bigger chance to fail that not to, purely mathematically speaking. That's also probably why weddings in SE Europe where I'm from are much more 'wild' than your average American wedding. That's when we celebrate a commitment of these two people.
@elevenfifteen1115

Nooo..... they do all act the same... this is why men are turning into passport bros, and that's the reason why men in America stop dating, I'm no even American, I'm just here for my life but even I as an outsider, I can tell dating an American woman is very tiring and weird, too many games, cheating, wanting another guy all of sudden, unwilling to build a long term relationship then complain why guys are all like this..... American women never reflect on themselves, that's the problem, they feel they were always oppressed by men so now they're going to do the same to men to make it even and call that feminism or whatever. You know in Europe and Asia, our women all experience the same, but they react differently, and their men know they also need to change, so they all have a good balance now for newer generations, I don't see that in America now, women seem to always believe they're right and men are wrong

I have been getting to know someone from Germany and it's been so stress free. There really is no label, and what she said about seeing where things go is really true. Being in America, where things are so labeled, this is really a breath of fresh air. And it makes me want to do things with her rather than planning to see where we are going, which never works in the end. Americans tend to overthink and overplan and we end up breaking up or doing terrible things like ghosting, which in and of itself is a form of dysfunction that the society has now accepted. I have friends all over the world and when they come to live or visit, they all complain how difficult dating is in America. It's not just because of cultural differences, it's because Americans are too caught up with this idea that if you're going to date someone, it shouldn't just be casual. And the idea of casual dating in America is all about hooking up, which doesn't have to be.

Being born in the Middle Europe (Czechoslovakia), formed by Swiss, Austria, France and Netherlands ... and currently living in the south of Germany, I am pretty sure I would be doomed in the US. When girls are playing a game, no matter where they are from, it is tolerated the first time, yet just to exclude the possibility they did it by accident since they are not sure how to approach a man. As we say "Einmal ist keinmal, zweimal ist Gewohnheit (Once doesn't count, two times is a habit already)". Firstly, I am not in a mood to play this type of games, secondly, I don't understand the rules. If you like me, just tell me directly and when you are shy to tell it, then act like it is obvious without any decryption. In Europe, I find it very natural to ask someone out where you like him without any mind blowing overhead and yes/no means "I am interested also, let us meet. / Sorry, I am not into you". Nothing between. When you you are meeting some for more then three times and nothing happens, than it is weird and you should probably move on as the other is not interested too much.

Most of what I see is either no makeup at all, or single color foundation and/or some eyeliner. I've actually never seen false lashes in person. Also I've never met anyone who actually played the dating game. It's almost always between classmates, or coworkers, and tho somewhat formal compared to Europe, relationships form fairly organically.

Depends on the western country I guess, the Dutch are smiling when it comes to customer service more then we Greeks do :P Girls in western europe are more relaxed and go with the flow, and also their men are more open minded when a girl takes her time to see what she wants as well ( Now take the Balkans, and the value of the girl is being measured by how many weeks she hold herself before indulging to her official boyfriend). But other than that, we do have labels. Casual, fwb, one night stands and exclusive official relationship are all different things and we do need to clarify where we stand to a certain degree. In my mind, the difference is that in Europe, if you are dating including going out together, meeting each other's friends et c. ,it is an exclusive official relationship thing and this is something you usually do after the talk (if you have needed one).

1:40 I feel like this causes constant problems for me when talking to Americans. You're supposed to act like you're great, which is polite in a way, but it also means you're alone with your problems (or go to therapy). Europeans may seem to act negative but I feel like complaining more makes problem solving a joint effort, you learn from each other's mistakes, you can choose to give a helping hand, even choose gifts based on what you think that person needs. In US I feel like there's this air of dishonesty preventing people from opening up. At the same time there's an air of general positivity to lift you up. But I have to admit it, I like seeing a bit of misfortune around myself rather than imagining all those people quietly suffering but not actually telling anyone.

It all comes to personality types. I am an American. I prefer confidence and directness because it’s less confusing and less exhausting. The people who are playing “games” do so because of insecurities. Not all Americans play games. If you believe that then you are being stereotypical and obviously easily manipulated by others thoughts. Unplug and think for yourselves. Meet people, bring out the best in everyone around you and enjoy life. You’ll learn on your own who to avoid and who to pursue. This is called Wisdom. Try it out and keep KZitem vids like this solely for entertainment purposes. ✌️

You will meet, go to cinema, drink a coffee, meet with friends. If you both have the feeling you connect with each other, you move together and live as a couple. Sometimes (after few years) you end up married. Sometimes you don't und you stay together without beeing married, and it's OK also. It goes for Germany. How it is in other European countries, I don't know.
