Thank you! This by far the best piano version, I've ever heard! I'll never forget, when I heard Take Five as a child for the first time. It was like music from another planet and ultimately the reason I started listening to Jazz. A few years later I had the chance to see him live - ever grateful!

I heard Take 5 for the first time in 1965 when I was 17 and bought the record. That was not easy to get this record and expensive too. Now I am 70 years old and I still enjoy hearing it.

Heard Take 5 live in 1970 at Attleboro High School. Played saxophone in high school. Paul Desmond, best alto sax ever.

Hallo@@douglasreeves9938, thanks for your answer, here my thoughts: Paul Desmond breathed life into his alto saxophone - it was a symbiotic relationship. Only great musicians can do these miracles, they can give their instruments a "melodic soundic soul". Paul could. It seems he wrote Take Five as a declaration of love for his alto sax a n d they both played together. Many greeting from Germany

Me too same age as you went to some sophisticated party and some richer kids than I and this music was being played have loved Dave Brubeck music ever since funny one seems to travel back to these sounds earlier than the Beatles, I sort of got how the music was played on take five by watching the piano being played, interesting beat I think 5/4

"Take Five" is a jazz standard composed by saxophonist Paul Desmond and originally recorded by the Dave Brubeck Quartet for their album Time Out at Columbia Records' 30th Street Studio in New York City on July 1, 1959. Two years later it became a surprise hit and the biggest-selling jazz single ever.

Sends my soul soaring in the clouds, -all around. I could be wrong here but, looks like sax man took creative liberty. Dave eyeing him, as well as drummer looking around to seeing others reactions. All's well, as Dave seems to give him a quick nod of approval. Brubeck, very good looking man as well. So grateful for all the wildly huge talents of ALL THESE MEN!!! This is the kind of music that remains timeless, as all really great music does. It's a gift, to all who can, and do, appreciate it. Thank you, from my very soul 😔 ❤️.

My MIL had the trio do a music seminar for a week at the U of Florida back in 1960. It was on the relationship between music and religion (she was a chaplain there). They sent invitations to a number of groups and Dave was the only one who answered. It's cool to hear her talk abut the 3 of them, what they were like. My FIL did driver duty :)
