It fits very well, as we're so used to Dave making jokes based on reality, but, in this part of his stand up, it was more like him pointing out reality in a somewhat serious tone with a subtle amount of jest. You can even hear the audience seem a tad confused, probably because most comedians who talk about Trump usually play it safe and just straight up clown of the guy. This explains the appeal. But it doesn’t explain the commitment. Agreeing with an honest liar doesn’t mean absolving the liar of their lies or miraculously retrofitting facts to make their lies true. That’s what scares me. “He tells it like it is” has morphed into “he’s the only person we can trust”. Once that switch gets flipped, the honest liar becomes the creator of whatever reality they choose.

@@starwalk3r I have a solution, but it requires a complete ground-up cultural shift. The type of shift that usually only follows tragedies and/or collapse. What we need is for everyone in America to break away from viewing politics like a consumer product. The political parties have become brands and politicians Hebert become celebrity endorsers. Ask a typical voter why they support the party that they do and it boils down to identity. In the same way some people like sports cars or big pick-up trucks, people will say they like the Republican or Democrats as a social identifier. It’s obviously more complex than that, but once you strip away the noise, you see that it’s not really about policies or what laws they pass; it’s about who they see as the biggest threat to our American way of life. Democrats see corporations, restrictions on civil rights, and violence as a means to control as the most destructive. Republicans see the loss of centralized control, cultural ambiguity, and foreign influence as the bigger threat. Trump has turned his entire existence into “I am one if you, and I have the biggest stick. Stand behind me and my victories will be yours”. So his lies, criminality, and corruption as seen as weapons he uses to win victories for His People. Everyone hates a bully unless the bully is fighting for you.

The trick about being an honest liar is that it’s important to point out the hypocrisy of the other side. If both sides are equally wrong then it’s easy to choose based on personal preference, and the guy admitting he’s wrong is easier to side with. Sadly Trump seems to be loosing track of that like how he’s going after fellow Republicans or RINOs as they are referred, thus implying he is right instead of arguing they’re just as flawed. And you especially see it in how Trump is dealing with the stolen documents issue. He could have admitted his fault and taken the slap on the wrist and then point out how his opponent Biden is no better as Biden did the same thing stealing documents. But instead Trump is trying to lie and say he never did it in the first place or that he was justified if he did(which are two obviously contradictory claims since if he had permission then he did do the the thing he said he didn’t do). And because of this to me, Trump is coming off as less of an honest liar and more of an incompetent liar. He should have stayed to his usual methods

Trump is being honest in his speech about tax code complexities and who benefits the most including politicians. Then Trump famously passed a massive permanent tax cut to corps and the wealthy with a marginal temp tax cut to everyone else (realistically it was primarily a tweak to withholding percentage allowing for higher take home pay but barely impacted the actual tax rate and changed up standardized deductions) The lie was appealing to voters believing the wealthy benefit the most from tax policy while normal Americans get shafted. And that he would be the one to fix that grievance.

That's just a lie. He expanded the child tax credit among other reforms, and Biden let his bill lapse and never renewed his changes. He even spoke about removing the death tax which is HUGE (though he admittedly never did it) but no other politician even talks about that. You don't know anything and shouldn't share your useless uninformed opinion

Life was objectively better under Trump than Biden for the middle class. At no point during Biden's presidency were groceries, gas, used cars and everything else as affordable as under Trump. Facts brah!

Trump didn't just legally have his accountants use the tax code to his max. advantage, as other savvy companies or wealthy individuals would do. His father organized his family's assets in a shady way so as to underpay on estate taxes. Trump also was able to rig it such a way (illegally) that his properties were undervalued, in order to reduce his property tax load--and that's taxes which would've gone to pay for essential services used by "the little guy." Trump also regularly "stiffs" workers/contractors (as Hillary correctly pointed out in the debate). He then gets routinely sued, & then is able to use his considerable legal resources to delay civil proceedings almost indefinitely until the plaintiffs give up their claims. Some of these contractors/workers stiffed by Trump, include small mom 'n pop type businesses--aka the "little guy." Keep in mind as well, that the average Trump voter had a higher income than the average Clinton or Biden voter. Soros & Buffet didn't break any law, Trump did. Low income whites in the heartland no doubt have legitimate grievances--but they've been conned by the master. George, Canada...

Lol 😂😂😂😂😂. You love to lie yourself. By the way, your writing is terrible. Soros has bankrupted 323 companies in his lifetime. Destroyed them, fired everyone, and sold them by piece. BTW, Soros has been sued easily 100 times more than Trump. Buffet had 8 chapter 7 companies. No to mention the other liquidations he has made to make more.money. many lawsuits, too. Now, neither Soros nor Buffet have been suffered political persecution like Trump, that's for sure. One thing, the Trump don't like to pay taxes. Same for NBC, AMAZON, APPLE, MICROSOFT, BOA, ETC, ETC, ETC. You have a choice, keep smoking whatever you are smoking or live in real world
