Dave Courtney, the king of the street, With a grin that said trouble and eyes that cut deep. London's heartbeat echoed in his stride, With Brendan by his side, a brother in the ride. Through smoky rooms where the deals were made, He played the game, but never afraid. A gangster's life, but laughter too, His stories as wild as the roads he knew. "Stop the ride, I want to get off," he'd say, When the world spun too fast, too hard to stay. A phrase like a wink, a nod to the wise, In the whirlwind of life, he saw through the lies. But last year the ride came to an end, And we lost a hero, a legend, a friend. Now Brendan stands with a heart full of pain, Wishing to hear Dave's laughter again. In the shadows of London, his memory stays, In the corners we laughed, in the words that we say. Rest easy, Dave, though you're gone from sight, In our hearts, you're still fighting the fight.

Brendan always comes across now as a fantastic human being. This contrasts to the days of running his plant business where you always had a sense there was a hidden dark side in that World he lived in. Brendan could/should do his own podcasts, he must know a lot of interesting characters? I would profer an alternative view that suicidal thoughts is a mental illness that needs to be treated by a Doctor. That is why this assisted dying bill is so dangerous. Just because someone feels down one day does not mean they would not have been happy the next. Suicide is "not" fully thinking of their family and love ones, even the pets! He should have seen a shrink during the year and a half before hand. Look at Stephen Hawkin, he did not commit suicide and he was in far worse state than Dave. Yet he went on to marry, have children, lecture, write books and carry on making a mark in the World and all he could do was blink!

Nice Liam. Enjoyed the whole podcast. I remember Dave from when I was little. Plumstead, Woolwich & Bexleyheath way. He was good to me. Also, the podcast has become very polished from the early days. Takes a man to admit he's wrong. That video apologising for getting the early recordings wrong takes some bolocks. More power to your elbow, sunbeam!
