This was performed on 9th January 1979, studio 2, Thames Television - I still have my original ticket. Im sitting on the stage. NEVER thought I would see this on the net! Thanx for posting and bringing back some very happy memories :)

@@mbogucci1 Well it was. I was there (as was an earlier poster). I don't know how old you are, but it was a common practice for Top of the Pops back then - and fairly common knowledge - that singers/bands lip synced. You can look it up. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Top_of_the_Pops#Miming

@Mike Bogucci Perhaps mimed is a better word. I know because I WAS there,, whether you believe it or not. So I'm afraid that unless you were there too, you would not have heard/seen it for yourself. I am sitting on the stage on the left hand side with the patterned skirt (and very ugly heavy fringe!) at the beginning and end of the video. I was with my sister and my friend; I still have my entry ticket! Top of the Pops had artists record their songs and mime along to it for the very reason that live performances didn't always go well. And it's not that difficult to mime a whistle! And I wasn't actually asking for your age lol! I've said all I have to say about this, take it or leave it - and I mean that amicably :)

All those confederate flags on the revelers. Did they think they were going to see Eric Clapton or something? As someone who’s been fortunate to be at many live music tv shoots, I’ve never seen one as chaotic as this. Great stuff. Rockpile was one of the best bands of their time and all of their music holds up.

This is mimed but on stage, they both played the solo in perfectly synchronised unison. Bremner sang it on stage for that matter, I think this only has the Edmunds vocal because he was promoting the Trax on wax album.
