A classic textbook case of how great skill on an instrument often turns the player into a crap musician. The music should lead with the skill merely being the means to go where the music requires. Whereas guys like this pervert the music into something in which to show off their skill. Guys like Dave Gilmour & Andy Latimer understand this and resist it, so even though they may be less skilled, they are much greater musicians. Whereas guys like Kilminster, Satriani, etc may have much greater skill but, until they learn to resist the urge to show off, are not musicians. Like the jugglers at a freak show, there is no art in what they do. As artists they are CRAP. That's my opinion anyway. Apologies for the attack but I really felt it needed saying. When that much potential for greatness goes to waste, then it needs pointing out.

You should hear his albums and then shut up funny you mention Gilmour is it beacuse he shreds so good he tour with Roger Waters playing Gilmour stuff and not turn them into this "funny" thing did you hear the buuu he obvisly have some distance to this..He can play ANYTHING do you think Gilmour can play anything?

Nope. THis was for a competition, so it's a kind of shop window of his skills, not specifically featuring "musicianship". As Dave himself says of sweep picking and tapping, "they are just tools and shouldn't be considered as representative of my playing style." There is a reason he was chosen to support David Gilmour on a world tour and played all the Gilmour parts on Waters subsequent world tour..

What a wretched soul you are.....utterly unresearched as clearly you are vacant to the origins of this piece and Kilminsters accomplished career. Comments like yours are often born from a blistering jealousy of this skill..... You should be ashamed of your comments. Crack on with your pentatonic fussings & continue your day long stares in the mirror realising the oceanic shitfest of failure your dust static playing has become...devoid of any spice or imagination. Anyways I'm sure your a nice guy...but please resist this type of ignorant mumbling.
