@ Chang Kwang Oh: You must be a young guy, because anyone old-enough to remember the great Montreal teams of the latter half of the 1970s wouldn't speak so casually of them. Many hockey historians and writers consider their 1976-1977 squad the finest team ever to take the ice. That may be debatable, but that team's accomplishments are in the record books. They set a record for points in a season, 132, and out-scored their opponents by a record margin of 216 goals. Their record was 60-8-12. They were so good that the joke ran that the only time they lost is when they played a split-squad game. They swept the Bruins in 4 straight to win the cup. Their roster for that season reads like a who's-who of the Hockey Hall of Fame. Hey, I'm a Blackhawks fan as well as a fan of the NHL and hockey generally, so I am not carrying water for them.... but honest compels me to admit that they were extremely special. Oh, and if you are too-young to remember them, good for you! Dirty job, but someone's got to do it!

I'm fine with discussing how they used the 2019 sweep as motivational fuel to power the next 2 championship runs. Winning that 2nd title really makes a strong case that the sweep was a one-off freak occurrence. It's been so damn impressive watching how the soft, mentally fragile team of that year has developed into this hard-nosed versatile machine.

TJ has come up with some really BIG playoff goals against Price.. -So back when the Redwings set the regular season wins record back in 95-96',.. they lost in the Western Conference finals..A big upset at the time... Detroit went on after that to win back to back Cups... Fast forward to the Bolts tying that regular season win mark and winning the President's Cup back in 18'-19'. they got swept by the Bluejackets that year... The next year they win the Cup in the Bubble, and are now on the cusp of winning back to back titles...HISTORY ALWAYS REPEATS ITSELF, ESPECIALLY WHEN IT COMES TO SPORTS.

Sort of a weird version of what the great Marian Hossa went through, but in reverse. Hossa played in three cup finals in a row, only managing to win in the last with the Chicago Blackhawks in 2010 (and again in 2013, 2015). He'd lost to the Detroit Red Wings in 2008 as a member of the Pittsburgh Penguins, and made the final the next season as a member of the Red Wings, losing again to his old team, Pittsburgh. Regarding Corey Perry, the guy has a talent for being where the action is, doesn't he? At least he won that cup in 2007 with Anaheim - that's something.

@ TBO 727: That's my wife's prognostication: She thinks Montreal salvages a win on home ice, but that TB closes it out at home, in front of their fans. After the weirdness of the bubble last season, the Bolts fans deserve the party. I'm a Blackhawks fan, but also just love hockey and have a ton of respect for Tampa Bay. What they're doing is very special. So enjoy the good times while you can, Tampa Bay Lightning fans - because sooner or later, they end. Ask me how I know! There's only one thing harder than winning the cup once, and that's keeping it. The Bolts look good enough to win it again next year, quite honestly, but you know the Islanders are going to have something to say about that, and maybe Vegas and the Panthers, too. It will be epic, no matter what.

@@GeorgiaBoy1961 My wife is a Hawks fan too. I moved to the suburbs of Chicago from Tampa in 2015 for work right before the playoffs. Had a rough year! @GeorgiaBoy1961

@@Pk91197 - Every great team learns from great teams before it how to win and how to conduct themselves as pros. The then-young Blackhawks learned it from the Red Wings, who had been dominated in previous seasons, and respected veterans like Andrew Ladd (Cup winner from Carolina) and All-Star Marian Hossa, who'd been to two cup finals previously and was one of the most-respected players in the game. Hossa was a complete 200-foot player and the consummate pro. He taught all of the young up-and-coming guys, like Kane and Toews, Duncan Keith and Brent Seabrook, how to be pros and how to win. And they did, three cups in six seasons. Tampa Bay is now where the Hawks were back in 2013 or so. They're a great team, too, and show no signs of slowing down. Maybe the Hawks had a little to do with helping them learn to win back in 2015. Oh, and how ironic that Brad Richards, formerly of Tampa Bay, helped the Hawks win the 2015 cup final. I respect the whole organization, but I was especially happy to see Steven Stamkos win a championship. He's been one of the game's best players for a long time, and also one of its best people. He's a class act and a great captain and leader. Checking that box probably punched his ticket to the HHOF, and deservedly so, if you ask me. The depth and skill up-and-down Tampa's present line-up is truly impressive. What I want to know is - who has kept that squad together in spite of the cap? That's some good work right there.... in other words, how did TB lock up all that high-end talent - Kucherov, Point, Vasileskiy, Hedman, Palat, Gourde, Goodrow, et al. - without exceeding the hard cap? Impressive accomplishment, and by no means an easy one in today's game. Wish the Blackhawks had been that smart; with all of the elite and high-end talent we've had to watch leave, we probably could have built a second cup-winning team..... it has been that bad.
