Mr. Spaulding, I have been reading your articles and watching your videos for over 23 years now. You are a fountain of knowledge and what you teach is more then relevant. I’m so happy to see this video today. Keep them coming please!!

New content out from Dave Spaulding is always a treat. Personally I feel that modern red dots and higher capacity micro's do basically anything a G19 would do. Myself, I've switched over to the Shield Plus with a Holosun, loaded with 14rds of 124gr HST. I'd rather the gun come with the stippling and magazines I want than have to go do it myself afterwards.

Dave, I have to be honest and admit I truly regret not taking a class from you! Just watching your videos has helped me be a better shooter, I can only imagine how much more training with you would have benefited me. Thanks for all the wisdom. Rick

At last someone that understands SD JHP ammo for sub 3.5inch barrels. You want a projectile that is designed around the idea that doesn't to move at high velocities. The biggest issue of +P in micro 9's have always been how "violent" the flash and recoil is instead of a maximum burn of the powder before the projectile exits the barrel. Short sub 3.5 barrels you have to compromise that it depends heavily on the sd ammo you use. Awesome content.

Dave, do you still have that original Glocks 19 that you’ve shot thousands of rounds through? If I remember right, it was a Gen 1 or 2 that you had 20+ years ago. I still remember the articles that you wrote with that Glock 19. Way before the internet. That was your “Go To” firearm back in the day.
I really like my 43x and g48. Shield gen 3 in the 48. Not any issues with the gen3 mags. Haven’t made the switch in the shorter slide version yet. Please keep us up to date on your s3 mag use. Thanks as always.

Nice to see Dave in a video. Looks like he is enjoying retirement. Did he get the grip reduction that was found on his 19 or is the gun just stippled? Nice to see Dave continuing his evolution of pistol craft

Taurus G3C, comes with three 12rd Mec-Gar metal mags(plus it can take the 15 & 17rd mags from the G3), sights that swap with any Glock sights, can get it with/without a thumb safety and it’s the same size as a 43x…for $300.

Great stuff as always, Dave, thank you! Was about to purchase the Raven Vanguard for my Shield Plus but paused because I saw a video showing how the front sight got snagged inside his jeans. Have you experienced that? I will carry AIWB (2:00-ish, actually, closer to the hip than the belt buckle). Currently use the Tenicor Velo and I do l love it, BUT. Since I have it closer to the waist, the "built-in wedge" seems to make the top of the holster over the slide stick out a bit. Not really bad but of course depends on the cover garment I wear. I am a short guy and need all the concealment I can get. Always researching if there's better ways. Thanks!

We purchased Shield mags for a Glock 48. We had a lot of issues. Took video along with description and sent it to Shield. They replaced our mags with their (at the time) brand spanking new gen 3 mags. We aren’t totally sold on them yet.

I have ran, I do not know how many rounds, reloads and SD ammo thru 2 of mine and they work great, no issues. I guess YMMV.

To quote the late James Yeager. Only OEM magazines should be used in Glock pistols. All after market magazines are junk! If you want fifteen rounds out of a Glock, then carry a Glock 19. The 43X is. Great ten round gun.

Palmetto State Armory makes 15 round magazines for the G43X that do not require a magazine release change. I have a couple and had zero issues.

All the micro 9mm models that started with the Glock 43 and SW Shield size now have models to the grip size of the 43x. A full grip is essential for your defensive pistol fundamentals. Enjoy that well deserved retirement !

Sheild arms magazines are known to work. Untill they don't. Most don't have issues for awhile, than one day they start to fail. 5 rounds are not worth it. It's like trusting a pro mag.
