Dave Tosh (RSPB)
Dave Tosh is a mammal ecologist that has plied his trade for the past 20 years across the academic, not for profit and private sectors. Upon settling in Northern Ireland, time in the pine marten playground that is the Crom estate, Co. Fermanagh, made him want to work on this species. Sadly for him it wasnt until 2014 that he got to combine his passion and interest for the species by developing a method to survey the species with local red squirrel groups. Since then, he has undertaken further distribution surveys with citizen scientists and Ulster Wildlife, population and den box studies in the Ring of Gullion and has explored the relationship between people and martens. He now finds himself four miles off the Antrim coast living on the island of Rathlin leading the eradication of ferrets as part of the EU LIFE Raft project.
